The 2017 World Poker Tour L.A. Poker Classic $10,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em main event attracted a field of 521 entries, building a total prize pool of $5,001,600. The number of players that turned up for the event at Los Angeles’ Commerce Hotel & Casino grew year-over-year, with six more entries made this year than in 2016.

The top 66 finishers will make the money, with a min-cash being worth $14,160. Of course, the remaining 111 who will return for day 3 of this event all have their eyes on the title, the trophy and the top prize of $1,001,110.

Day 3 resumes at noon local time with Nick Maimone holding the chip lead with 567,400. Other notables who survived day 2 include Matt Berkey (493,100), two-time WPT champion Mohsin Charania (435,400), former L.A.P.C. champion Antonio Esfandiari (349,300) and Poker Hall of Famer Mike Sexton (270,400), who has been the WPT’s commentator for 15 seasons and won his first title on the tour late last year.

Defending champion Dietrich Fast made it through the day with 123,500. He is looking to become the first player to ever defend a title on the World Poker Tour.

Plenty of big names hit the rail during day 2 action, including former champions of this event in Anthony Zinno and Chris Moorman, Daniel Negreanu, reigning Card Player Player of the Year award winner David Peters and Darren Elias, who won his third WPT main event title last weekend in the WPT Fallsview Poker Classic.
