A group of former Olympians from Pakistan were arrested on gambling-related charges, according to a AFP report on zeenews.india.com.

The Olympians arrested are Qamar Ibrahim, Kamran Ashraf, Danish Kaleem and Anjum Saeed.

All the aforementioned men are hockey players.

“We raided a Lahore hotel and arrested eight people who were all hockey officials,” Nasir Hameed, Station House Officer, told AFP.

Along with the four Olympians, several hockey officials were also busted.

The men appeared in court on Sunday.

Gambling—apparently of any kind—is illegal in Pakistan, “but cricket matches nonetheless attract huge numbers of bets,” the report stated.
