Klemens Roiter Hoists Long-Awaited First Triton Trophy In Jeju

Roiter Earned His First Title At 13th Triton Final Table, Earning $771,000 For The Win

Klemens Roiter has accomplished a great deal in tournament poker, especially over the last two years. Since the start of 2025, Roiter has won the $1,500 World Series of Poker monster stack event for over $1.2 million and made eight Triton Super High Roller final tables. He had nearly $15 million in career tournament earnings, but an elusive trident trophy had eluded him, including a tantalizingly close call in Montenegro back in May, when Roiter finished second in the $100,000 no-limit hold’em main event.

But at his 13th career Triton final table, Roiter finally broke through. The Austrian poker pro outlasted a field of 174 in a $20,000 no-limit hold’em event in Jeju, South Korea, claiming the $771,000 first-place prize and a long-awaited first Triton title.

“I’m still shaking, my entire body,” Roiter told Triton’s Stanley Ma shortly after his victory. “I’m so happy. I couldn’t be more proud.”

Roiter came back from a significant chip disadvantage to defeat Alejandro Lococo heads-up for the title. This win, worth 936 Card Player Player of the Year points, positions the  35-year-old in eighth place overall in the yearlong race presented by CoinPoker. He now has two titles and 12 final-table finishes in 2026, with his other win coming in a €10,200 six-max event at the European Poker Tour Barcelona stop just a week before this triumph.

Early Triton Action In Jeju

Alexandros Theologis topped a field of over 200 entries in the first event of the festival at the Les A Casino in Jeju. Enthusiasm remained high in this, the second event on the schedule. By the close of registration, 174 entrants built a total prize pool of $3,480,000, which would be shared by the final 27 players.

The money bubble burst late on day 1, and 25 players returned for day 2 to battle it out for the title. As the field combined to an unofficial final table of nine, Roiter was firmly in the middle of the pack. Yu Zhang and three-time Triton winner Webster Lim held the biggest stacks, with defending Card Player Player of the Year and four-time Triton champion Jesse Lonis also in the hunt.

Lonis’ day ended in heartbreak as his pocket jacks went down in flames against Lococo’s J♦7♠, courtesy of a seven on the flop and another seven on the turn. The money got in after Lococo improved to trips, and Lonis couldn’t find a one-outer to regain the lead. He settled for eighth place ($94,000) and 156 POY points, enough to move him into fourth place overall as he chases back-to-back POY titles.

American Justin Saliba, a two-time bracelet winner, picked up the next elimination as his pocket aces held strong against Yu Zhang’s K♥8♠, sending Yu out in seventh place ($130,000). Lim fell in sixth place ($179,000), at the hands of fellow Triton champion Mehdi Chaoui, as his A♠K♥ couldn’t find help from the board.

Lococo’s Runaway Runs Into Roiter’s Comeback

Lococo continued to build his lead, eliminating Justin Chu in fifth place ($233,000). Then, against a shorter-stacked Saliba and Chaoui, Lococo made his biggest move yet. Holding A♣10♠, he battled Chaoui’s pocket nines and Saliba’s Q♠J♦ with a chance at a double knockout.

Saliba took the lead on a J♣8♣7♥ flop, and further improved to two-pair on a Q♣ turn. But Lococo spiked the 9♣ river, giving him a winning club flush, the massive pot, and two eliminations. Chaoui, with fewer chips, finished in fourth place ($292,000), and Saliba laddered one additional spot to third place ($358,000).

After that double elimination, Lococo held a 2.5:1 lead. But Roiter picked up an early double-up to even out the chip counts, leading up to one of the more memorable hands in recent Triton history. Roiter checked his option in the big blind with 7♦2♣, and by the river of a 10♣7♥5♦7♠5♥ board, he was sitting pretty with a full house. He shoved the river, and Lococo, who had a queen-high kicker to the two pair on board, eventually called.

That decision left Lococo with almost no chips, and despite one double back, Lococo’s A♠9♦ fell to Roiter’s 10♥8♥ on the final hand, with the latter making a pair of eights.

Roiter’s total career earnings eclipsed $15.7 million with this win, with over $9.1 million of that sum coming in Triton events.

“Now I could potentially retire,” Roiter told Ma after his win, admitting this was the one achievement he felt was missing. “But I don’t think I’m quite finished yet.”
