Alexandros Theologis Breaks Through In Jeju For First Triton Poker Title

Greek Pro Bests 206 Entries In $15,000 No-Limit Hold'em Kickoff Event to Earn $642,000

Alexandros Theologis has been a regular on the tournament poker scene for nearly a decade now, and has accumulated over $10 million in recorded earnings since making his debut on the live scene in 2018. Along the way, the Greek poker pro has captured several marquee titles, including winning a World Series of Poker bracelet. The 33-year-old online grinder had more than $4.5 million in Triton Poker cashes to his name coming into the latest stop of that high-stakes tour, but had not yet managed to hoist a trident trophy.

That all changed when he took down the kickoff event of the 2026 Triton Poker Jeju II festival, besting 206 entries in a $15,000 no-limit hold’em affair to earn the hardware and $642,000.

“I’m of course very excited and very fortunate that I ran this well to win,” Theologis said. “I value the Triton trophies above other trophies just because of the competition and the buy-in and so on. So I couldn’t have asked for anything else.”

This was the sixth-largest score of Theologis’ career. The victory inside the Les A Casino in South Korea brought his lifetime earnings to $10.8 million.

Theologis also earned 1,080 Card Player Player of the Year points for the win. This was his first title and fourth final-table finish of 2026. With 2,400 total POY points, he has climbed to 123rd place on the overall leaderboard presented by CoinPoker.

Setting The Stage

Alisson Piekazewicz was eliminated on the bubble late on day 1, ensuring that the remaining 35 players all earned a share of the $3,090,000 prize pool. Plenty of notables were sent to the rail on the march to the final table, including Artur Martirosian (29th), Ethan ‘Rampage’ Yau (28th), Daniel Dvoress (26th), Xuan Liu (25th), Aleksejs Ponakovs (24th), Justin Saliba (18th), Bernhard Binder (15th), Jesse Lonis (14th), Nick Petrangelo (13th), and Joao Simao (10th).

Theologis held the chip lead when the final nine combined onto a single table. After Wang Yang (9th – $65,000) was eliminated, Theologis was involved in a massive pot that concluded with him correctly folding pocket kings. He faced a flopped set of sevens from six-time Triton champion Punnat Punsri and would have slid to the middle of the pack if not for his savvy laydown.

Adrian Mateos soon bowed out in eighth place ($79,000), with his K♥J♥ losing a preflop race against the pocket eights of Victor Chong. The Spanish all-time money leader now has nearly $70.4 million in recorded scores to his name after this, his 342nd career cash.

Ehsan Amiri (7th – $108,000) was knocked out by Daniel Rezaei, who then found himself on the chopping block with Q♦J♦ trailing the A♣6♥ of Chong. An ace-high runout sent the pot to Chong, while Rezaei settled for $147,000 the sixth-place finisher. This was the 10th final table of 2026 for Rezaei, including a win in a $60,000 buy-in event at the first Triton Jeju stop this spring. With 6,412 POY points, the Austrian is now ranked sixth in the POY standings.

Final Five

Yin Tao ($194,500) committed his last few blinds with J-10 suited facing A-7 for three-time Triton winner Kiat Lee. The Malaysian made aces up to scoop the pot and narrow the field to four.

Despite scoring that knockout, Lee was ultimately the next to fall. He got the last of his chips in good, with A♠10♠ leading the A♣8♣ of Theologis, but the tables turned when an eight rolled off on the flop. Theologis held from there and Lee was eliminated in fourth place ($245,500). He now has more than $26.9 million in lifetime earnings after this latest deep run.

Punsri ended up finishing just a few spots shy of a seventh Triton title. He got all-in with A♥3♣ against the A♣J♣ of Chong, who made trip jacks by the river to eliminate Punsri in third place ($302,000). The Thai all-time money leader now boasts nearly $39.3 million in career cashes.

With that, Chong took better than a 2:1 chip advantage into heads-up play against Theologis. That lead evaporated when Theologis won a big pot with a turned straight. Things turned even more in Theologis’ favor when he won a hefty pot with third pair, picking off an ace-high bluff attempt from Chong to leave his opponent on fumes. Chong managed one double-up, but was soon all-in with 8♥4♣ facing the J♠10♦ of Theologis. The board came down A♦9♦6♥7♣3♦ and Theologis’ high cards were enough to earn him the pot and the title. Chong secured a career-best score of $431,000 as the runner-up.
