Poker legend Phil Hellmuth, winner of 13 World Series of Poker bracelets, has decided to give his latest one away to California venture capitalist and NBA owner Chamath Palihapitiya, who Hellmuth says is his “best friend.”
Both call Palo Alto, California home.
According to Hellmuth, it was the first of his bracelets he didn’t give away to family or keep for himself. Altogether, 11 of them have been given away.
Palihapitiya, who played in the $1 million buy-in at the WSOP in 2012, owns part of the Golden State Warriors and is a former executive at Facebook.

@TandG21 you are right - he needed the money... lol common, look at his record, for the last 25 years he has averaged $700,000 / year in cashes. 6.5 million comes in the last 3 years. Yes, he definitely needs money right now, probably starving.
