The month of March featured a lot of action at the high-stakes online poker tables on PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker. Some of the game’s best tangled in big-bet games, as well as in nosebleed limit variants, like the popular deuce-to-seven triple draw.

A pair of Maryland natives led the way in both the win and loss columns. Here’s a look at who was up and who was down, according to tracking data from HighstakesDB.

Winners

Dan “jungleman12” Cates — $767,518
Crazy Elior — $308,172
SanIker — $204,842
Jens “Ingenious89” Kyllonen — $181,903
Dan “w00ki3z” Cates — $180,605
Doug “WCGRider” Polk — $146,732

Losers

Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond — $666,198
Phil “Polarizing” Ivey — $356,423
Ronny “ronnyr37617” Kaiser — $355,975
Patrik “FinddaGrind” Antonius — $299,686
Gus Hansen — $280,774
Viktor “Isildur1” Blom — -$167,011

Both Cates and Blom are up more than $1 million on the year, while Gus Hansen is down around $1.7 million. He was approaching $17 million in losses lifetime on Full Tilt.

March also marked the return of MalACEsia, an unknown account from Macau. MalACEsia was the catalyst for massive no-limit hold’em games last year. He took a long break after losing tons. Could historic no-limit hold’em games begin running again?

The largest pot on the month was a $240,000 monster between Galfond and Blom.

Got to love our game and all the players on top of it. For any aspiring future online players do your research before depositing your money online to offshore sites. Sites like bovada have great payouts but there are scam sites/Ponzi schemes such as lock poker and superwins that will take your money and never payout if you try to cashout. They can pay for advertising but they will never pay their players. Don't be a victim do your research.
