The 44th running of the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas is set to begin on Wednesday with the start of the $500 casino employees event. Also on Wednesday is the first open buy-in event of the summer, a $5,000 no-limit hold’em eight-max tournament.

Some of the game’s best have already started to make their way to the Las Vegas valley to prep for an exciting, but also grueling, stretch of competition. While many poker pros live in Southern Nevada, the WSOP has become a global brand capable of attracting players from seemingly everywhere, all the while contributing to the game of poker itself becoming a recognizable recreational activity in many countries.

Here’s a look at some of the Tweets.
