Dejan Divkovic from Bosnia is the new PokerStars Australia New Zealand Poker Tour Perth main event champion taking down AUS$114,000 for victory over the 214-strong field at the weekend.
The 23-year old started the final table second in chips and knocked out James Broom in seventh place and got heads up against Iori Yogo from Japan in just four and a half hours.
The duel between the two non-Aussies lasted just a few hands despite both players having over 100 big blinds. First Divkovic flopped a set of threes against an open-ended straight draw to get most of his foe’s chips. Then Yogo ran 9 7
into the Bosnian’s J-J and it was all over.
The final table payouts were:
1: Dejan Divkovic (Bosnia) — $114,000
2: Iori Yogo (Japan) — $72,000
