Ole Schemion Scoops Massive Prize At Controversial Partouche Poker Tour Main Event


Courtesy of Partouche Poker TourOle Schemion is the fifth and final main event winner of the Partouche Poker Tour. The German takes home a massive €1,172,850 for first place after topping a field of 489 in the €8,500 buy-in no-limit hold’em tournament.

Season five wrapped up in dramatic fashion with a controversial au revoir as at first the organizers announced that the €5 million guarantee was just a marketing trick, but then decided to reinstate it following media coverage of the “misunderstanding” and the onslaught of players who took to social media to voice their disbelief. It was also announced that this event would be the Tour’s last.

This meant €736,880 was added to the prize pool, which Schemion took the bulk of. His final opponent was Karen Sarkisyan who took home €693,494 for second place.

In addition to the money, a ton of Card Player Player of the Year points were awarded at this final table, making a big impact on the 2012 POY race. Champion Ole Schemion earned a massive 2,100 points at his fifth final table of the year. As a result moved into sixth place in the overall standings with 2,956 points, two titles to his name and year-to-date earnings of $1,662,657.

POY points leader Dan Smith continued his unbelievable run in 2012 by finishing seventh in this event for $224,293 and 525 points. This was Smith’s eight final table of the year, with five titles won and to-date earnings of $3,537,941. As a result, Smith now sits with 4,625 points and a lead of 873 over nearest competitor Kyle Julius.
