The Hurt Locker

by Lee Watkinson |  Published: Jan 24, '10

I have a new favorite gambling movie.

I watched The Hurt Locker a few days ago on pay per view, then woke up and rewatched it and haven’t stopped thinking about it yet.

It is about a bomb disposal guy over in Iraq, who it turns out loves the “gamblers high” from risking his life figuring out how to defuse bombs.

One of my favorite, most insightful pieces of movie dialogue is the main character talking to his son, who is not old enough to talk yet, about how the older we get the fewer things we “love”.

This movie is great and will keep you engrossed from the opening scene until the very last scene.

Lee Watkinson has accumulated nearly $4 million in tournament winnings over his career. Until you know that we have lost so many of the disposal experts they are bringing back the retired military guys they can still recall....not much of a high in death...

Kinda like how they have gambling in "Deer Hunter"?

That director is an obscure and eccentric lady who's most famous movie is "Point Break". I thought that was weird, but I see the similarities now in the fast paced tense action scenes.

I'm looking forward to the new McGruber movie.
