Is a Legend becoming a Myth?

Wow, only 279 players in the Legends WPT $10,000 televised event. In spite of a beautifully renovated Bicycle casino and all the poker traffic in the area, being located near the Commerce casino, LA and Orange County. I think this is yet another message to those who organize and run events that what you are supplying isn’t what’s wanted. Large buy in, small field events only appeal to a small number of players. What’s necessary for poker to grow and flourish is for events to expand in size. In order to buck the current trend, a new approach must be taken. Attracting new players with the emphasis on the fun of playing and the competitive spirit of the game is a must. I really can’t wait to see what happens in a few weeks at The Borgata with the $3,500 buy in WPT event. I guess I will just have to wait and see.

Roy Winston finished 16th in 2007 Card Player, Player of the Year race. He won the WPT Borgata Poker Open and finished the year with well over $2 million in tournament poker winnings. Why don't the online poker sites run satellites for these events?

So very true! In this depressed economy, poker organizers must lower the buyins in response to the smaller fields. I am treking to AC from Vegas for the $3500. I guess its true, offer the people what they want, and they will come!
