Weekend of Poker With Friends, Really Obama?

I again got side tracked just as I was heading for Vegas. Some family and friends convinced me to spend the weekend playing the Borgata summer series main event, which is a $2,200 event and should attract well over it’s $500,000 guarantee. I would have liked to play tomorrows 8 game mix at the WSOP, but I couldn’t pass up this opportunity. I will be back in Vegas next week by whatever means necessary.

We had a great day today playing a some cash games at The Borgata, followed by the spa and then dinner at the steak house. Tomorrow’s event has a great structure with 30k in starting chips, a slow structure with one hour levels.

I was out with a group of friends last night and they asked if I heard about the story by that gossip monger Perez Hilton about Shannon Elizabeth’s home game. I do think it’s pathetic how low life pond scum Perez Hilton, who took Paris Hilton’s last name because he was so enamored with her, and don’t even get me started on what I think of her, goes off on what one reader sent him as a story about Shannon. Now I have no idea what is or isn’t true about the whole thing, but what I do know is there are lots of “Hollywood” home games with enormous rakes, being hosted by A-D list stars. I guess as long as players are willing to play in them and pay the monster rakes, they will continue to run. I believe some players don’t even pay attention to the rakes. I know of one game in NY City and one in LA where they have to be raking 25-40 thousand per evening.

I suppose I have to mention the firing of General Mac Chrystal over the Rolling Stone article where he supposedly made some off the record comments about President Obama that were put on the record and resulted in his being fired as the commander in Afghanistan. I do not know where the truth lies here, but I believe this is one of many huge mistakes Obama has made since taking office. I supported him hoping he would bring about positive change after eight years of “W.” Well I guess that was too much to hope for. Instead of shrugging off the issue and letting an extremely qualified General with a great history continue to do a tough job, he let’s Rolling Stone Magazine have way too much influence on our foreign and military policy. And while I’m on the subject, Obama took no action when his National Security Advisor, James Jones, tells a clearly anti-Semitic joke at a public event, here is the link: http://israelmatzav.blogspot.com/2010/04/video-national-security-adviser-tells.html.

I guess Obama is nothing more than just another politician. As such he serves the political machine and not the people. I am not sure what we the people can do about this going forward. We get to vote and have choices, but how do we get better choices? Perhaps the system and the amount at stake creates the problem. I guess I expected more from him, my bad.

Does 'extremely qualified' include the Pat Tillman coverup?

I thought the joke was funny, but I don't think the National Security Advisor should be peddling comedy at his press conferences while servicemen are dying.

Jon Stewart on the Daily Show had an good segment this week on the firing of McChrystal and the lack of progress in Afghanistan. The link: http://www.newser.com/story/93789/stewart-blasts-obamas-afghan-strategy.html.

The irony is Obama fires McChrystal and assigns Petraeus to take over. Petraeus was W's general in Iraq - and the same general who both Obama and Hillary called a liar and excoriated his Iraq surge strategy as doomed to fail while they were senators.

Good luck at the Borgata.

Obama had to fire McCrystal. They have a word for it when the military becomes bigger than the civilian government. Russia.

Roy I usually agree with you on most topics but your off base on Obama removing the generals command. You cant question or make light of anyone higher up the chain of command from you. It may not seem like free speech but there isnt any room for free speech in the armed forces. If his quotes are accurate (and he hasnt claimed that they arent) he could have been court martialed. You cant make comments like that around civilians. I dont believe Obama has done the job he was hired to do but this move had to be made. On a side note if the general was foolish enough to make those comments around a reporter then Im not sure how competent he could be. Everything is always on the record....there is no "off the record".

What would Gen MCcrystal have done if a man directly or indirectly under him disparaged him publicly? Im sure he would have just told him no big deal.

Anyone who has ever served knows that this isn't a debate. Obama is the Commander and Chief of the United States Military (whether you like it or not) and the remarks were borderline treasonous. If you think its no big deal, please give us some examples where top military brass publicly insults the leader of a country and nothing happens.

Get a clue man. Firing Gen. MacCrystal was a mistake? Really? What do you know anout Military Policy? What do you really know about the man or his effectiveness? Zero. What we do know is he is a big mouth, and thats not good if you are an Army General. You dont know squat about Poker or Political Policy or Chain of Command, and most things you blog about so you really should keep your mouth shut and instead write about things you know about like hemorrhoids.
----------------------------------------------------------

You know even less than he does...So why are YOU opening your mouth?

Why dont you stick to the things that you do best...Impersonating dead people, stealing others names, and attempting to get your fill of attention by attacking those who you wish you could be like.

As a Vet I can tell you, as much as it pains me, to say obama was correct in the firing. The General was out of line, no matter he is a liberal and voted for obama, the magazine and reporter are clearly anti-Military and would do, say or report anything to hurt it.

To vote for obama because you were tricked and or lied to by the obamaone is forgivable. Anyone believing in far leftist views, want socialism in America and detests free enterprise would think obama is their man, so I have nothing against them. The issue I have is with the uninformed who voted for this regime, it was clearly a vote against America, the Military, the citizens and the Constitution. Change will happen in 2010 and 2012 to rid the country of this incompetent and anti America regime, the writing is on the wall as they have lost every election since obama was elected.

Roy Winston says: "Obama took no action when his National Security Advisor, James Jones, tells a clearly anti-Semitic joke at a public event, here is the link"

Ahh, I see you are a Jew-brown noser. I am willing to bet that if a similar joke was made about Muslims or Arabs you would be completely okay with it, in fact you would probably have laughed and told the joke yourself at dinner parties. ;-D Ur just another Jew lap-dog and ignorant clown suckered in by decades of pro-Jew/anti-Arab media propaganda. Keep watching CNN Roy, the Jews own that network too.
