Lucio Lima Wins 2021 World Series of Poker Online $525 Superstack Turbo Bounty No-Limit Hold’em Event

Two-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Anson Tsang came within one spot from securing his third gold bracelet, but was ultimately defeated heads-up by Lucio Lima with the 2021 WSOP Online $525 ‘superstack’ turbo bounty no-limit hold’em title on the line. Lima earned $91,025 in total prize money and his first bracelet as the champion, having outlasted a total field of 2,229 entries in the fast-paced event. This was the largest recorded score for the Brazilian, who is an online tournament regular.

It took around seven hours for this event to narrow the massive field of a couple of thousand entries down to a final table of nine players. Tsang held the chip lead when the final table was set, with Lima sitting in fourth chip position. William Romaine was the first to hit the rail when his pocket kings were beaten by the J-10 suited of Krzysztof Dulowski, who turned trip jacks. Romaine earned $16,438 as the ninth-place finisher.

Lima secured his first knockout at the final table when his AK held up against the A10 of Daisuke Ogita (8th – $17,126). Yngve Steen was the next to fall, with his pocket sevens running into the pocket aces of Stanislav Kuvaev. Steen took home for his seventh-place showing.

Joaquin Melogno’s run in this event came to its conclusion when his pocket jacks got out flopped by the Q10 of Lima, who defended his big blind and hit top pair right off the bat. Lima bet both the turn and the river, with his final bet being enough to put Melogno all-in. The Uruguayan made the call with his jacks to finish sixth ($18,314).

Stanislav Kuvaev made the final table of the $2,500 limit hold’em championship just over a week prior to this event. He managed to improve on his eighth-place finish in that event, but ultimately ran out of steam in fifth place. His AQ was unable to beat out the KK of Dulowski, who surged into the lead after his kings held up through the river. Kuvaev earned $23,741 for his latest deep run.

Dulowski was able to come from behind with KJ against the AK of Johnathon French to further increase his lead. French cashed for $29,320 as the fourth-place finisher.

Lima won a preflop race with pocket sixes against the A-Q of Dulowski during three-handed play that saw him overtake the chip lead. Dulowski ultimately finished in third place ($60,634) after his KQ was beaten by the A4 of Tsang.

With that, Tsang took just shy of 65 million into heads-up play with Lima, who sat with roughly 46.5 million. Lima found a double-up after slipping early, and was able to battle his way into the lead by the time the final hand arose. He moved all-in from the button with 33 and Tsang called holding A5. The A93710 runout secured the pot and the title for Lima, while Tsang settled for $66,918 as the runner-up finisher.
