Due to the the slow nature of the shootout event tournament staff decided to end the night at 2 a.m. instead of playing down to a final table as originally intended. The players seemed happy about this and there were plenty left as only a 13 players had been eliminated so far.
Tony Cousineau seems to be playing excellent poker and is in the $50,000 chip range. Victor Ramdin is another pro that is making a nice run in the second round. Matt Matros was one of the 13 eliminated players after his K-Q failed to improve against his opponent's A-8. Other than that the pros seem to be performing well in round two.
Depending on the progress made tomorrow, they might not play down to a winner tomorrow due to tonight's early ending.
On the same night his own brother became the first Mizrachi to win a bracelet, Mike Mizrachi failed to reach round 3 of the $1,500 Limit Hold 'Em Shootout. He was knocked down and out in the following two hands. In the first he failed to hit any of his outs when he held J T on the turn when the board read: K Q 2 5. The river was a Q giving his opponent, who held A A the large pot. In his final hand he was all-in on a flop of J 8 5, he held the A T and his opponent turned up 4 4. The turn brought K and the river was the opposite of help when it came a 4.
All eight tables still remain intact and it has been announced that we will play down to a winner on each table before the night is over.
Play is still pretty tame in the $1,500 Limit Hold 'Em Shootout. We have had only two eliminations in the last hour.
One hand in which two pros clashed was between Isabelle Mercier and Joe Tehan. Isabelle Mercier raises in middle position. Action folds around to Joe who re-raises and Isabelle makes the call. The flop brings 6 6 6 and Isabelle bets out. Joe raises and Mercier makes the call. The turn came a 3 and Isabelle checked. Joe bets and Isabelle thinks for a moment before folding. Joe shows her the T T for a flopped full house.
All the notable pros are still in and play should start to amp up soon.
The second round of the $1,500 Limit Hold 'Em Shootout has begun. We have eight tables and 72 players still competing for the bracelet. Some notable faces still left in the field include: Michael Mizrachi, Noah Boeken, Isabelle Mercier, Victor Ramdin, Bill Chen, Joe Tehan, and Tony Cousineau.
As one would expect in a limit shootout structure, the action early in this round have been failry slow and uneventful.
Stay tuned for more live updates throughout this round.

Limit Shootout Drags On
Today's $1,500 Limit Hold 'Em Shootout tournament has slowed to a snail's pace as the tables have gotten thinner and players have gotten tighter. There are currently seven tables that are heads up, but to this point there has not been a table winner.
Many notable players are still in the field, all in contention for winning their tables. Joe Sebok is locked in an intense three way battle with two other players and said, in his opinion "limit tournaments suck out your soul." Erick Lindgren and Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi are two of the four players left at their table and Lindgren looks to be on his way out with a very short stack. Noah Boeken, Isabelle Mercier, "Miami" John Cernuto, Kenna James, Nam Le, Jennifer Harman, and David Levi are just some of the notable players remaining in today's field.
Andy Black from Ireland is down to the last three of his table and Ram Vaswani of the Hendon Mob and Ian Woodley the Irish Open runner-up are in the last four of their table.
Stay tuned to CardPlayer.com for the upcoming table winners that will be returning for round two.

Level 3 Recap
The third level of play in today's Limit shoot out has come to an end without much excitement. The shortest table still has six players remaining but the good news is that the limits are reaching levels that players are starting to bust out at a regular pace.
Notable eliminations in the last level include Scott Clements, Max Pescatori, Men "The Master" Nguyen and Barry Greenstein. Greenstein was down to his last $125 and waited a few hands before putting his two last chips into the middle. The player in seat four at his table bet out $150, Greenstein called for his last $125, Jeff Shulman completed from the small blind and seat three checked from the big blind. The flop came K 7 2. Shulman and the player in seat three both checked. The player in seat four bet out $150 and Shulman folded. The player in seat three called and the turn was the 3. The player in seat three checked and seat four bet out $300. Seat three called and the river was the 4 and both players checked. The player in seat four showed K Q for top pair and Greenstein showed A J.
The player in nine was first to act and bet out $300 at Daniel Negreanu's table. Negreanu was the only caller in the small blind and the flop came K 6 3. Negreanu checked and the player in seat nine bet out $150 with only $150 more behind him. Negreanu just called but when he did, the player in seat nine tried to put his remaining chips in the middle thinking Negreanu had raised him. "Not yet buddy" said Negreanu. The turn was the 5 and Negreanu again checked. The player in seat nine made his last bet and Negreanu called. Negreanu showed Q J and the player in seat nine was holding 10 10. The river was the 7 and Negreanu doubled up his opponent.
Scores of Europeans litter the event, most of them from Ladbrokes poker site using the event as a warm-up for the 'Big One'.
The most notable Euro table includes Michael Keiner, Surindar Sunar and Andreas Hoivold - with Hoivold packing $7,600 in chips at the moment. Keiner got a renewed lease of life when all in for his remaining few chips his A-Q stood up against J-K. He now has $1,700. Sunar is sitting pretty on $5,600.
Also in the field are Andreas Krause, John Magill, Pascal Perrault, Andy Black, Marty Smyth, Noah Boeken, Rob Taylor, Alan Smurfit, Alexander Kravchenko and Juha Helppi.
Surprisingly the limits have already caught up to a few players, and the eliminations are slowly beginning to crop up. Alex Vuong and Joe Cassidy have recently busted out. Cassidy couldn't catch up when his opponent caught trip Queens, and Vuong was eliminated when her opponent made a straight.
Daniel Negreanu was able to take one pot with a stellar 6 3. Negreanu called his opponent's preflop bet to see a 4 3 2 flop. Negreanu bet $100, his opponent raised to $200, and Negreanu called, the turn was the 9, Negreanu checked, his opponent bet $200, and Negreanu called, the river was the 5, Negreanu bet and his opponent reluctantly called. As Negreanu pulled in the pot his opponent flashed him pocket Jacks.
Look for more high profile elminations in the next level.
The first hour of play in today's Limit Shootout has come and gone. Early estimates set the field size at around 700 players and many notable players are getting their last chance to play before the main event. There are a few stacked tables in the Amazon room in today's event and many with two or three pros. Table 37 houses Nick Frangos, Brett Richey, Diego Cordovez and Juha Helppi. Sharing the felt at table 16 are David Daneshgar, Todd Witteles, Scott Clements and the winner of event #34, $3,000 Limit Hold 'Em, Alex Borteh.
As with most limit hold 'em tournaments, the action is painfully slow in the early levels and not too many chips are trading hands. There have been no notable eliminations in the first hour and the field appears to be sleepy and groggy. Maybe 33 straight days of gambling has begun to take it's toll on some of the players.
