The field in the $1,000 Rebuy Deuce to Seven event has been slowly shrinking during the past hour. There are only 24 six handed tables remaining and as the amateurs bust out, the tables get even stronger and deeper stacked.
Two particular tables stand out amongst the rest as the toughest. Table 60 boasts David Sklansky, Dario "Ryu" Alioto, Robert Williamson III, Steve Diano, Andy Bloch and Gavin Griffin. Table 41 is no slouch either, with C.K. Hua, Mimi Tran, Mark Gregorich, David Williams and Berry Johnston.
Over at Allen Cunningham's table, Phil Hellmuth busted early on in the level.
David Williams has been playing fast and loose, a style that got him to the final table of the single draw lowball event last year. C.K. Hua raised to $400 and both David Williams and Berry Johnston made the call. Hua took one card, Williams took two and Johnston opted for three cards. Hua bet out $200 and Williams check raised him to $400. Johnston folded and Hua called looking to improve. He took one and Williams stood pat, betting $400. Johnston made the call and squeezed out a dud, folding to Williams next $400 bet. Williams thought about showing, but casually mucked his cards and raked in the pot.
The blinds are now up to $200-$300 and the stakes are $300-$600. The reason for the odd structure is because the $25 chips were raced off and the end of the last level.

Late Start
There was a small delay to the Deuce to Seven event coming back from dinner. Apparently, some of the tables received the wrong $1,000 chips during the add-on period. Harrah's has two types of $1,000 chip this year, bright yellow and orange. Some tables had players with both colors. In order to prevent players from dumping chips to a player in another event by handing off during the break, different colored sets of chips were introduced this year to prevent collusion.
At 10:20, play finally began and everyone had orange chips in front of them. The blinds remained $75-$150 as they had been in the previous level.
During the level, someone set off the alarm in the Amazon room and as a result many of the fire doors in the Rio were sealed shut. The alarms certainly annoyed many players and one player complained he was getting a migraine as a result of the flashing lights that continued for about ten minutes.
This didn't stop the action, however, as players came out of the gate ready to gamble early. Tom Franklin got involved in a pot with Rafi Amit where Amit stood his ground and Franklin was forced to muck when he paired his three on the third draw for a final board of 7-4-3-3-2.
Much of the excitement in the room is due to the new I-Phones that many of the players are sporting. Daniel Negreanu isn'tk too impressed with the new technology, at least until it can perform a few more operations. "Does it make breakfast? Does it clean the shower?" said Negreanu.

No More Rebuys
The rebuy period is officially over. Players all over the event scrambled to find extra $1,000 chips, some borrowing from buddies, others resorting to spending other casino's chips.
Players were given the option to rebuy if they were at or below $2,000 in chips. All players were given the option to add on either a single or double amount. Phil Hellmuth was overheard to have spent $6,000 on this event.
The action picked up considerably right before the break, as players either tried to get under $2,000 or increase their chip stack.
Gavin Griffin raised to $300 and Steve Zolotow made the call from the big blind. Griffin took one card and Zolotow took two. Griffin bet $150 and Zolotow made the call again. This time Griffin stood pat while Zolotow opted to take one card. Griffin bet out $300 and Zolotow made the reluctant call. Zolotow took one more card and had to call a bet by Griffin when he made a 8-6-5-4-3. He mucked his hand, however, when Griffin turned over the winning 8-6-5-3-2.
Another action hand came between John Murphy and Todd Brunson. Murphy raised to $300 and Brunson made the call from the button. Both players took two cards and Murphy fired out $150. Brunson made the call and both players decided to take one card. Murphy bet $300 and Brunson made the call. Murphy stood pat and Brunson drew one card. It went check check on the third draw and Murphy turned over 98432. Brunson took down the pot, however, when he turned over 87542.
The players have gone on dinner break and won't return until 10 P.M.

Jeff Madsen took a three-way pot off of Chau Giang and another player. Madsen drew two cards twice and once card on the last draw while Giang stood pat. Giang checked, the third player bet, eliciting a few choice words from Giang. Madsen made the call and showed 7-6-5-3-2. His opponent mucked and Madsen dragged the pot.
Gavin Griffin took down a three-way pot involving Howard Lederer and Steve Zolotow. Griffin called Zolotow and Lederer's preflop raises, and drew three cards. All three players checked, and Griffin drew one card. Griffin bet $300, and stood pat after both players called and each drew one. Griffin then bet on end, and both players folded, Zolotow showing 6-5-4-3 as he mucked.
As the rebuy period ends look for a lot of the players to take chances, to try and build up their stacks.
After a short break action is back underway in the triple-draw lowball event.
The Hellmuth Syndrome
A number of players have shown up in the second level, including Eli Elezra, Barry Greenstein and the master of the late arrival, Phil Hellmuth. Hellmuth only recently busted from the $5,000 short-handed no-limit event and is likely steamed up, so expect plenty of antics from the "Poker Brat."
Tran Rebuys
David Williams raised to $200, Mark Gregorich called and Mimi Tran called all-in. All three drew two cards before the flop, Williams checked and Gregorich bet $100. Williams called and after the second draw, Williams checked. Gregorich bet $200 and Williams folded. Tran revealed her 8-5-3-2 and Gregorich told her, "If you catch a ten you win." She drew a jack and flipped it up. Gregorich showed his 10-9-7-6-4 and took the pot. Tran had Gregorich break a $5,000 chip and rebought.

2-7 Triple Draw Set To Get Underway
The $1,000 deuce-to-seven lowball triple-draw with rebuys event is set to begin at 5 p.m. This is a new event for the 2007 WSOP and is sure to draw an interesting crowd. Triple-draw lowball is often included in higher-limit mixed games, and is hard to find at lower limits. Also, with the three hour rebuy period, the event will probably put to large of a strain for a small bankroll to handle. As a result, the majority of the players in the field should be well known.
