Players broke out in applause as the end of day 1B is announced. Less than 900 players remain. Players from this heat will return on Tuesday, August 1, with day 1A. Day 1C begins tomorrow at noon.

After a player raises all-in for about $800 pre-flop, John Juanda moves all-in behind him. Nobody calls Juanda's re-raise. He turns over AQ and his opponent turns over Q10. The board comes J65A9 and Juanda wins the pot. He's at $11,500.

After a pre-flop raise to $4,000, the flop comes 874.  Allen Cunningham checks and the player in the 5 seat fires out $5,000 and Cunningham calls.  The turn brings the 3 and once again Cunningham checks.  The player in the 5 seat bets $8,000 and Cunningham calls.  The river is the 6, Cunnigham checks and the player in seat 5 pumps out $20,000.  After a long debate, Cunnigham calls and flips over JJ.  His opponent mucks and Cunningham climbs up to over $80,000.

Seat six limps under the gun, and from early position Aaron Bartley raises to $1,600.  Action folds around to seat four on the small blind, who calls.  Seat six also calls the raise.  The flop falls K103.  Both seat six and four check to Bartley.  Bartley bets $3,000, and both players fold.  Bartley is now at $33,000.

With $3,200 in the pot and a board of AAQ, the big blind checks and Mike McNeil checks from middle position. The turn is the 10. Both players check again. The river is the K. After a few moments of consideration, the big blind checks. McNeil thinks, then checks behind. The big blind shows J10 and McNeil shows 88. He's down to $25,000 after losing a small pot.

With 15 minutes left in Day 1B, a player on Jeff Madsen's table has just ordered 4 shots of Tequilla for him and 3 others at his table.  It is a bit early to be celebrating, but anything to keep the players awake for the final few minutes as 3 a.m. approaches will help.

Seat 3 raises to $1,200 in late position and Eric Lynch re-raises from the small blind to $4,800.  Seat 3 asks how much Lynch has left and he answers $18,025.  Seat 3 folds and Lynch's stack sits at $20,100.

As the final 30 minutes of Day 1B tick away, play has tightened up a bit in the Amazon room as all remaining players are trying to hold on and survive Day 1.

From the small blind, seat four limps.  From the big blind, Phil Ivey raises $1,500 and seat four calls.  The flop falls 976, and seat four checks.  Ivey bets $2,500, and his opponent moves all-in for $15,100.  Ivey thinks for about fifteen seconds and folds his hand.  Ivey is now sitting with $16,400.
