I been playing alot of 1-3 at my local casino and I been playin for about 2 years or more at seminole hardrock, I been watching this one player who just never loses buy ins , the thing is.. He only plays 13 hands in poker AA-22 which means I only really see him show down sets playing over 100 hours with him when he raises to 13 14 preflop he also doesn't get any callers anymore except when he plays on the weekends with the drunk Friday and Saturday night crowed he will leave the table with 600 to 700 is this a terrible strategy just playing paired starting hands? I feel I lose with ace king more then I win with it same thing with ace queen etc... So maybe he's making a fortune since he never plays stupid hands that end up costing you more in the long run?

I have seen players use this style, but you hit the nail on the head already. Regulars know where this guy 'sits' and can adjust their play when he is in the hand. You only get a pocket pair 'every' 16 hands and then you only flop a set 'every' 8.5 times that you actually get a pocket pair.

So, rounding some numbers here, he only gets a pocket pair every 1.5 orbits and will only hit a set once every 13 orbits. Most live tables play between 2.5 and 4.0 orbits per hour. He hits a set every 3 hours or more!! And then he has to get paid during the hand.

Great for the weekend drunks, but not so great against full time regulars. The fact that he doesn't get callers will allow him to steal some to maintain his stack until he can get someone to bite. I assume he gets played back at pre-Flop a bit so the others can try to determine the rank of his pocket pair.

It would take a great deal of patience to play this way ... and a ever changing number of opponents!!
