Playing with a bankroll!by Enrique1 | Published Jun 24, 2012 |

My intent of this blog is to keep track of all my play and show the world how a 25 year old poker veteran, well sort off, (8 years) tries to make it playing live in the poker circuits around my city/world. A little background about me, I began playing poker at the age of 17 and by the time I was 18 and legal to play I began playing live games throughout my city. Like most amateurs I had little success and profit fluctuations. Althought, I am profitable throughout my playing years I have not seen that profit and often times I have taking hits on my money just because of bad or no bankroll management.
Online poker was a double-edge sword for me, I made a lot in some big tournaments but cash games mostly killed me, I used to go by the name of "kiqui118" on Pokerstars. After online gaming was banned for US players in Pokerstars I decided to call it quits and focus on saving money for a rainy day.
Fast-forward a year and half later and here I am playing poker again. This time will be different, I know it. I began playing 6/3/2012 when I played a live bounty tournament in Magic City Casino in Miami, Fl. The buy in was $125, I busted on that one and was a reminder that being card dead could really hurt you. I decided to play the same tournament the following week. So on 6/10/2012 I played it again and this time it was a whole different ballgame, I took 1st place for $1k and eliminated 7 players for an extra $175. This really gave me a confidence boost and this past week I played it again, so on 6/17/2012 I played and busted on 5th place, 2 shy off making it to the money but knocking out 3 players for $75. This extra money I had made from my initial victory plus some I had saved throughtout my time off got me thinking, why not play serious and with a proper bankroll? So I decided to put aside $3000 and begin playing $1-2 No Limit on my spare time. This decision was influenced with my full-time job being seasonal and this being the start of the slow season for me.
So far I have played 3 sessions and currently I am up to $3,145. My first cash game session was on 6/21/2012 where I made $254 in about 2 1/2 hours of play. I played solid and felt good.
My next session was on 6/22/2012, I played for 5 hours and lost $200. I could have made a small profit at a point but was stubborn enought to stay loose for the day.
Today was my 3rd session, 6/24/2012, I played for about 1 hour and made $97. My play was solid made some good plays when necessary while trying to avoid get sucked out by all the donkeys that make up the playing field of $1-2 No Limit poker.
I will try to track all my play here and with time go into hand analysis and hopefully get my bankroll to a level where I can feel better in moving up stakes.
Please feel free to give me any tips, suggestions, or critique you might feel are necessary. Good luck to all.
