Wake Me Up When September Endsby jnells | Published Sep 29, 2011 |

I'm sure everyone remembers the hit Greenday song that is the title of this entry, it was played a trillion times on the radio after it came out, kind of making Greenday a Pop band. Although I always related to this song in high school, because well because September sucks when you are in high school, I never thought I'd relate to it so strongly in college. The reason being, college is fucking awesome, everyone is on their own for the first time and although college kids are collectively a bunch of broke ass mother fuckers I'm sure a huge % of the college educated world will attest to college years being the best of their lives. However, had my memory just gone to sleep on the 1st of September and woken up some time in the next few days it would be in for a rude awakening. I would've gone into my mental comma while in Vegas with close to a 5K bankroll after coming off an awesome summer of poker trips (which had me up nearly 8k) and other random traveling, with my favorite baseball team (Boston Red Sox) in great position to win the devision and a near lock to make the post season. Then I would have woken up nearly completely broke a month into classes (only one of which is even remotely interesting), with a bunch of drama within my group of friends (at least I'm not in the middle of it), the Sox having completed one of the worst September collapses in baseball history (ending in hilarious fashion with the Sox blowing a 1 run lean in the bottom of the 9th AND Tampa Bay completing a 0-7 comeback against the NEW YORK FUCKING YANKEES) and OH YEAH MY DOG DIED. Seriously? September can go FUCK ITSELF it sucks.
Actually writing that paragraph did make me feel a little bit better. The worst of September by far was Charlie, my family dog of 10 years dying unexpectedly but at least he didn't have to hang around really sick and in pain for years like some other dogs do. It does kind of suck to not really know what did him in, according to my mom he was perfectly fine 2 days before, and even went for a run with her (which was a really good sign because he had leg surgery like 3 months earlier) then there was a day before where my mom said he looked really tired and not like himself, but he wasn't throwing up or anything so while she was going to take him to the vet, it didn't appear urgent.
In poker I pulled a Joe again, which is getting a massive chip lead 4 handed and managing to get 4th with no chop. This was the 3rd or 4th time this year that it happened to me at Seabrook. I misplayed 1 hand really badly trying to bluff a guy, who in hindsight was likely to be making dumb traps, off of quods. Even with the misstep I was in good position and it took 2 really bad beats and a coin flip to knock me out 4th so I'm really not that disappointed. I think that I am going to Foxwoods tomorrow to play the $230 tournament at 6PM and prob some cash games when I inevitably punt off all my chips in some hilariously spewy fashion. Going to need to get something going very quickly to be able to play any of the World Poker Finals events at Foxwoods in October unless I end up getting staked somehow, which while not impossible is rather unlikely.
