Analysis
O'Dwyer kept the pressure on from the button, but Duthie decided to take a flop with his low connectors, enjoying a 2-1 chip lead over his opponent. Duthie immediately led out with his open-ended straight draw on a semi-bluff, while O'Dwyer tried to use position and a raise to end the hand with air. Duthie received nice odds to continue and managed to turn the nuts. Duthie set the trap, while O'Dwyer got carried away with his backdoor-flush draw. Rather than consider the resistance his opponent had demonstrated on the flop and take the free card for his well-disguised backdoor-flush draw, O'Dwyer tried to buy the pot in position once again. This bet had a lot less going for it than his raise on the flop, and Duthie gladly set him all in with the nuts. O'Dwyer was unable to catch his flush and was eliminated in seventh for $92,580.
