With the blinds at 3,000-6,000 and a 500 ante, Parker raised to 15,000 from the button, Zink reraised all in from the small blind, Parker called.
Parker had a real hand on the button when Zink shipped it out of the small blind with his weak ace. Zink’s stack of 20 big blinds would probably have gotten the fold from steal raises, but not from a deep-stacked opponent holding pocket queens. A lot of tournament players go broke with weak aces in the small blind when the button has picked up a real hand. Parker’s large stack and position gave credence to the theory he could be raising light, and Zink made the move to keep some play in his stack. Parker held off the dreaded ace, and added to his huge stack. Zink was eliminated in 32nd for $10,366.
