Outcome
Carlos Mortensen (with $4.5 million in chips) and Dewey Tomko (with $1.6 milllion in chips) were playing heads up for the championship, and the blinds were $15,000-$30,000 with a $5,000 ante. Tomko raised to $100,000 with pocket aces, and Carlos called $70,000 more with K-Q suited. On the flop Mortensen bet $100,000, Tomko raised to $500,000, Carlos reraised all in, and Dewey called.
Analysis
Note: Both players played the hand well before the flop, and again on the flop when all of the money went in. If Dewey didn't have a set, two pair, or pocket aces, Carlos would be a pretty big favorite. Because Dewey had A-A, he took away two of the straight cards that Carlos needed. This was one of those hands where both players were correct to go all in on the flop.
