Final table, six-handed, with the blinds at 300,000-600,000 with a 75,000 ante, Begleiter raised to 1,600,000 from under the gun, Moon went all in from the big blind, Begleiter called.
Moon tried to use his superior chip position to leverage a fold from Begleiter, but his over-bet of essentially 21.7 million into the modest pot of 2.9 million was met with a quick call from the under-the-gun raiser. This pattern of over-betting would become part of Moon’s table image, which he continued to play into instead of against, enabling his opponents to make big calls later. Moon’s A-Q was dominated by the banker’s ladies, but a truly dramatic ace peeled off on the river, sending a dumbfounded Begleiter to the rail in sixth, for $1,587,160.
