Analysis

Next time you want to complain about a bad beat, remember this devastating hand for Kevin Schaffel, who graciously exited the stage with a smile. Schaffel was posed to double-up into second chip position, having Buchman dominated in suits, as well, but an ugly flop for aces was spread by the dealer. The board wasn’t entirely bleak for Schaffel, as he was still quite live, with six outs for a redraw to his higher set or the Broadway straight. However, the perversion continued on the turn, where Buchman spectacularly made quad kings. Instead of catapulting up the leader board, Schaffel was eliminated in eighth place for $1,300,231.
