Outcome

Final table, nine-handed with the blinds at 150,000-300,000 with a 40,000 ante, Akenhead went all in from under the gun, Begleiter called, Buchman reraised to 12,000,000 from late position, Begleiter folded.

Analysis

Akenhead’s stack of 13 big blinds and his obligation to post on the subsequent hand motivated him to shove and pray with his K-Q. Begleiter went for the knockout call with his pocket tens, but Buchman was lurking behind with Big Slick and elected to isolate, driving Begleiter out of the hand. Buchman had Akenhead dominated, and things were looking grim for the young Englishman by the turn, where he was drawing thin to the three remaining queens in the deck. Akenhead’s rail exploded when he caught his queen on the river, more than tripling him up. Soon after, Akenhead was coolered with pocket kings against aces, and he ultimately ran pocket threes into pocket nines, sealing his fate as the ninth-place finisher. The remaining players were relieved that a dangerous opponent was gone, and Akenhead earned $1,263,602 for his ninth-place finish.

interesting allin isolation play. I'm thinking this was a perfect time to use the cooperation play. AK pretty strong, but Beggs and Buchman would likely have checked that one down had Buchman flat called. Neither had nothing to bet on flop. Buchman might have fired off a bet on turn to protect his hand, but with a player allin, might have checked. Tough call. AKK with straight and flush draws out there, Buchman almost has to bet.
I was hoping to hear analysis on this hand regarding whether Buchmans allin isolation play was best option. I'm not in these guys leauge, but I'd have just called there, taken the flop in position, with likelyhood of free cards if I miss the flop due to the allin player.
