Outcome
With the blinds at 600-1,200 with a 100 ante, Seidel raised to 3,000 from the cutoff seat, Burt Boutin called on the button, Laak reraised to 11,000 from the small blind, Seidel reraised all in, Boutin folded, Laak called 15,000.
Analysis
Laak mounted a squeeze play out of the small blind preflop, hoping his 3.4-1 chip lead over the preflop raiser would encourage the fold, given Seidel's more vulnerable chip position in relation to the blinds. Laak's play backfired once Seidel went all in, and Laak was faced with a call of an additional 15,000 for the pot of over 41,000. Laak called due to pot odds, but Seidel had him dominated and was poised to double up. An unfortunate 5 on the turn paired Laak's lowly kicker, turning the tables on the eight-time _WSOP_ bracelet winner. Unable to redraw to his ace on the river, Seidel was eliminated on a bad beat.
