Outcome

Final table, three-handed, with the blinds at 20,000-40,000 and a 5,000 ante, Mizrachi raised to 85,000 from the button, Steely raised all in from the small blind, Mizrachi called.

Analysis

Mizrachi suspected his king high was trailing some kind of A-X from Steely, opining, "I think I'm 40 percent," hoping he was a 3-2 underdog with live cards in an un-dominated hand. With a 7-1 chip lead, he had plenty of room to make the call, and the cash jump associated with the next pay-grade gave him plenty of incentive to go for the knockout blow. Steely had him dominated with his high pocket pair and was in good shape to double up and get back in the match. The flop gave Mizrachi a gutshot-straight draw to go along with his overcard, but Steely obviously held two blocker cards for Mizrachi's straight draw. Steeley had to fade just five outs heading to the river to survive, but the dealer cruelly dealt him a set, giving Mizrachi the Broadway straight and the nuts. Steely earned $218,860 for is third-place finish.
