Outcome
Final table, three-handed, with the blinds at 60,000-120,000 with a 15,000 ante, Senninger raised to 275,000 from the button, Gustavson reraised to 800,000 from the small blind, Senninger called. On the flop, Gustavson bet 1,140,000, Senninger called. On the turn, Gustavson went all in, Senninger called.
Analysis
Gustavson elevated his aggression in this three-handed dogfight, three-betting with his queen from the small blind into Senninger's button-raise. Senninger enjoyed position and a hand with strength beyond that which his opponent might suspect, and he opted to take the flop instead of moving in. Since there was only one overcard on the flop, Senninger decided that his eights were still good. His opponent was bound to make a play for the pot while out of position, having three-bet preflop. Unfortunately for Senninger, Gustavson hit the queen and had him in a tough spot. Gustavson realized he had a customer on the turn and moved in, putting Senninger to a tournament-life decision. A fold would have left him with a workable stack, but his preflop line and flat-call on the flop might have indicated weakness to an aggressive opponent who might be making a play. Senninger called and saw the bad news, finishing in third for £285,000 ($454,002).
