Final table, nine-handed, with the blinds at 25,000-50,000 with a 5,000 ante, Eastgate raised to 145,000 from middle position, Rajkumar reraised all in from the big blind, Eastgate called.
Ultra aggressive preflop play, characterized by wide three- and four-betting, appears to be an important component of Rajkumar’s game and success. Rajkumar sought to use his near 3-1 chip lead and the threat of an early final-table elimination as motivation for Eastgate to muck, but Eastgate stuck with his hand, dominating his aggressive opponent. Eastgate enjoyed a safe board and a hassle-free double-up, and parlayed this pot into a deep run to second place. Rajkumar, who started the final table toward the top of the leader board, suffered additional setbacks and eventually busted in ninth, for £38,000 ($60,534), bubbling out on the official final table of eight for this EPT event.
