<![CDATA[Jon "Pearljammer" Turner rocks the online poker world almost as hard as the band Pearl Jam rocks the real one. The young man from Raleigh, North Carolina, has racked up over $87,000 in Online Player of the Year winnings since January. A multi-table tournament specialist with a devastating heads-up game, he has also netted over $361,000 in live tournaments. He cashed twice in the 2007 Winter Poker Open, first for third place ($59,138) in the $2,500 buy-in no-limit hold'em event and then twelfth in the $10,000-buy-in championship event, netting $72,003.

Turner attended college but, like many other online pros, he was drawn to poker after Chris Moneymaker won the 2003 World Series of Poker main event. He started in a home game he ran at his house. Instead of the usual $20-buy-in games, he was playing $1-$2 to $2-$4 no-limit. After repeatedly dominating his home game, he moved to Las Vegas to play professionally. He currently plays in live large-buy-in events as well as a large number of games online.

If you see him at your table, good luck; you'll need it.

<![CDATA[Adam ?Roothlus? Levy, born June 1982, started his poker career while in college at the University of Central Florida and Santa Fe Community College, but he never found anything he enjoyed enough to seriously pursue. He said it is ?hard to do something well if you have no interest in it at all.?

Levy is, however, thoroughly interested in poker. True to his axiom, he?s also proven himself a very good player of the game. Levy has been a dominating Internet tournament player for the last few years. He made the PokerStars Sunday Million final table twice within a five-week period in 2006 (when the fields were averaging 5,000-6,000 entrants each week), cashing for a total of $104,000. More recently, he landed final-table seats at the major Sunday tournament at Bodog twice in two weeks.

As far as live poker, Levy?s gotten the ball rolling with quite a few small cashes in some major tournament series, including the Five-Diamond World Poker Classic and the 2006 Bellagio Cup II. At the 2007 World Poker Tour, Levy narrowly missed the televised final table by finishing ninth. He received his biggest live score yet at more than $81,000.

<![CDATA[Splashing onto the poker scene in a big way in late August 2008 was Zach "CrazyZachary" Clark. The young poker pro from the Bay Area took the 2008 WPT Legends of Poker tournament by storm and played all the way to a third-place finish, good for $281,645.

Clark gravitated to poker because of a major influence in his life, his late uncle Chip Reese. "I did a lot of 'investing' with Chip growing up," said Clark. "We'd bet baseball all the time. Chip staked me in the 2008 WSOP. Then I won the FTOPS [Full Tilt Online Poker Series] main event right after that. He wasn't big on staking people, but I don't think he had a choice seeing that I was his nephew. [Laughing] At least I made him a little money." A natural gambler, Clark took advantage of some loose California gaming restrictions to run a mini-casino from his home. "When I was in high school, I ran a little casino out of my house," recalled Clark. "We had blackjack and craps. We were legitimate. We had a six-deck shoe and everything. We had the poker table in the corner, with no rake of course. But yeah, that's pretty much how it started." Clark did his best to talk his childhood friends into trying poker, most notably Marco "CrazyMarco" Johnson. Although Johnson had a much easier time making the switch to tournament poker. "We both grew up playing limit hold'em, and he made the transition to tournaments much easier than I did. He was so naturally aggressive to begin with, and I had to be pushed. [Dan] Harrington explains it perfectly: During the last two minutes of a football game, you can't be handing the ball off when you're down big, you have to throw the bomb. My limit hold'em style just didn't naturally carry over as fast as I'd have liked. It took about a year for me to get aggressive enough for me to become plus-EV [expected value] in these tournaments."
When asked what Reese would think of him making the final table of a major televised poker tournament, Clark shrugged off the notion that he was in some way following in his uncle's footsteps. "I think he'd be proud either way," explained Clark. "I mean, I love being here, and I'm going to make the most of it, but it's not for Chip. I think about Chip every day, and I miss him to death, but this is for me, and I have no doubt that he would agree with that."]]>

<![CDATA[Marco "CrazyMarco" Johnson began playing poker at the age of 19 online, and by 21 he dropped out of Chico State to become a professional player. He lived the poker player's dream by traveling all over the world playing poker. The icing on the cake was when he moved to Las Vegas and took up residence with one of the best players in the game, Jared "TheWacoKidd" Hamby. He has since moved back to Walnut Creek, CA.

After dominating online tournaments with numerous deep finishes in Sunday's biggest events, Johnson branched out into the live circuit. At the 2007 World Series of Poker, Johnson cashed five times with one final-table finish. He scored his biggest cash yet at the 2008 World Series of Poker when he finished in a heart-breaking second place in Event 48 for more than $490,000; losing the final hand for the bracelet with AA versus Alexandre Gomes' A10.

Look for Johnson to keep making waves in the future.
