Vladimir Schmelev completed to 30,000 and Erik Seidel raised to 60,000. Schmelev made the call and then led out again with 30,000. Seidel raised all in and Schmelev made the call. Here were there boards and how they ran out. Seidel: 5 Seidel committed his chips with pocket aces but Schmelev hit a set of tens on fourth street. Seidel improved to two pair but it was not enough as he was eliminated just a few spots shy of the money. James Van Alstyne Out We caught this hand as Alexander Kostritsyn was counting up his chips after scooping a pot between him, Allen Bari and James Van Alstyne. Van Alstyne had the rest of his chips committed and was eliminated.
We picked up the action on fourth street. Mikael Thuritz bet 30,000 and David Singer made the call. Thuritz fired 60,000 on fifth street and Singer raised to 120,000, leaving only 30,000 behind. Thuritz put in enough to put Singer all in and Singer made the easy call. Singer: 7 Singer made a king-high flush on fifth street but Thuritz caught his diamond on seventh street for an ace-high flush and Singer was out in heartbreaking fashion. Stud/8 Kirk Morrison Bursts Bubble, Out In 17th We did not catch the action but Daniel Alaei eliminated Kirk Morrison to burst the money bubble just two hands into hand-for-hand play. With Morrison’s elimination, the money bubble has burst and the next person eliminated will earn $98,331.
We caught this hand after seventh street. Vladimir Schmelev bet enough to put Andy Bloch all in and Bloch made the call. Here were their hands: Bloch: 9 Bloch made two pair for the high but it was no match for Schmelev’s set of three’s. Bari turned over A The flop was harmless as it came down 10 No player had a club in their hand so Bari needed an ace to knock Richey out but the J Pot Limit Omaha Ilya Bulychev Doubles Through Vladimir Schmelev, Then Eliminated In 15th Place ($98,331) John Juanda and Vladimir Schmelev had each put 43,000 into the pot preflop. Ilya Bulychev then bet the pot, putting himself all in for his last 132,000. Juanda thought for a long time before finally deciding to muck his hand. Schmelev quickly called and showed J The board rand out 7 However, Schmelev would get payback just a couple of hands later as he got all his chips back, as well as Bulychev’s remainder, eliminating Bulychev in 15th place. Not long ago Scott Seiver was one of the event’s chip leaders. But his stack gradually started dwindling away. In consecutive hands he lost to Chris Ferguson and then he ran into Cole South’s A First, on a board of Q But Seiver was about to run into an even larger pair on the next hand. Seiver raised to 30,000 and South reraised. Seiver called and the flop came K South turned over A South had around 650,000 after the hand. 7-Stud
Scotty Nguyen couldn’t double, or triple, up another time, instead running into Abe Mosseri’s straight flush. Scotty Nguyen has managed to boost his stack fro 30,000 to over 130,000 after two all-in hands, both against Nick Schulman. The first time he put his last 30,000 in and drew one, then staid pat for the second two draws. Schulman drew two every time and couldn’t come up with a hand to beat Scotty’s 8-6-5-4-3. Not long after Scotty got all in and drew 1 on both the first and second draws. Schulman did the same, but when he drew on the last draw Scotty staid pat, showing 8-7-6-3-2. The hand put Scotty back up to 130,000 and Schulman is still strong around 700,000. Anytime Scotty wins a pot it becomes evident that he has the loudest fans on the rail. We caught up with this hand on the river after Robert Williamson III shouted, “Aces against aces. You’ve got to be kidding me.” Andy Bloch was all in for his last 231,000 with A The board had run out K Razz Clements Takes One Off Haxton Picking up the action on seventh street, Scott Clements bet 12,000 and Isaac Haxton contemplated about what to do. After some thought he decided to muck his 10-9-8-7 up cards. “Show the bluff,” Haxton pleaded. Clements obliged showing his hole cards, (9-7-3) to go with his K-Q-7-4 that was showing for a Queen-low. Clements was around 150,000 after the hand. Stud/8

The flop came down Q The turn was the J Ferguson tried one more time, firing 28,000 into the pot. Bari thought for a bit and decided to look Ferguson up. Sure enough, Ferguson tapped the table and showed A Bari tabled 10 2-7 Triple Draw
Eli Elezra, Erik Sagstrom, Nikolay Evdakov and Phil Ivey all had five bets in the pot prior to the first draw. Elezra and Ivey drew two cards while Sagstrom and Evdakov drew one apiece. Sagstrom then bet and received three calls. Eveyone took one card on the next draw and the action checked around. Elezra, Sagstrom and Ivey each took one card on the last draw while Evdakov stood pat. Sagstrom then bet and received a call from Evdakov. Ivey folded but Elezra raised to 24,000. Sagstrom made it three bets to 36,000 inducing a fold from Evdakov. Elezra called and Sagstrom turned over the nuts, 7-5-4-3-2 to take down the massive pot and grow his stack to around 640,000. Limit Hold’em Alaei Busts Another Opponent Daniel Alaei raised to 12,000 preflop and the short-stacked seat 7 raised to 18,000. Overheard On The Felt 2004 WSOP Main Event Champion Greg Raymer expressed his surprise toward the field of 77 entrants.
