Big Hands:

Nam Le Eliminated
On a flop of 5 4 2 , Nam Le called all-in for 28,000 with the A 8 J 9 . He was behind against the two pair of Rifat Palevic with the Q Q 5 2 . The board bricked out with no flush cards for Le and he was eliminated still seeking his first bracelet.
Padraig Parkinson Eliminated
After a flop of K 5 4 Padraig Parkinson and Rifat Palevic got it all-in. Parkinson held top set with the K K Q 8 but was up against the flush of Palevic with the 10 10 9 8 . The board failed to pair for Parkinson on the turn and river and he was elimianted.

Chris Ferguson Eliminated
The short stack of Chris Ferguson went all-in preflop and was called by Jeff Lisandro and Rifat Palevic. The flop came J J 7 and Lisandro checked. Palevic checked behind and both players saw a Q fall on the turn. Lisandro bet 15,000 and Palevic made the quick call. The K fell on the river and Lisandro quickly checked to Palevic, who promptly fired out a bet of 36,000. Lisandro mucked instantly and Palevic tabled Q Q K 10 for queens full. Ferguson mucked showing the A K in his hand. Rifat Palevic has been on a tear and is up to 380,400 after eliminated six consecutive opponents at his table (including Nam Le, Padraig Parkinson and Ferguson).
After the hand there was some verbal taunting by the dealer. She said, as Rifat Palevic raked in the large pot and Jeff Lisandro was visibly disgruntled, “that was the perfect turn card I put out.” The comment elicited a reprimand from Lisandro.
Left In The Deck:
The players are currently on a 20 minute break.

$10,000 Main Event - Huck Seed Goes Broke Early
Jul 05, '08
Blinds: 50-100
Chip Leaders:
Brian Townsend: 40,000
Joe Awada: 26,600
Greice Yamaguchi: 23,500
Dominic Tremblay: 21,500
Bill Chen: 21,000
Lee Childs: 20,350
Eliminations: Shawn Buchanan, Huck Seed
Big Hands:
Huck Seed Eliminated

On a board of 7 7 3 Q , the player in seat 9 bet 6,000 on the turn and Seed went into the tank. Staring at his opponent and cocking his head, Seed ultimately moved all in for just under 16,00 total. Seat 9 went into the tank and eventually made the call, showing A 7 for trip sevens, ace kicker. Seed turned over 9 7 for trip sevens with a weaker kicker. The 2 fell on the river, eliminating the former 1996 Main event world champion just minutes into the day.
Set Over Set, Shawn Buchanan Eliminated Early
Just minutes into Day 1c of the $10,000 NL Main Event, Shawn Buchanan got it all in with a set of sevens on a board of J 7 6 5 2 . He was beaten by a set of jacks and lost almost his entire stack this hand, leaving himself with only 300 chips left. Crippled, the next hand Buchanan got it in with K-10 against K-Q and failed to improve. It was a very, very early day for Shawn Buchanan who has been eliminated from the tournament.
Clonie Gowen Misreads Hand, Eliminates Player

On a flop of A 5 4 , Alex Jacob bet 300 and Clonie Gowen raised to 800. The player in the big blind reraised to 2,000, Jacob mucked and Gowen reraised to 4,000. The big blind quickly moved all in and Gowen insta-called.
Gowen: A 3
Big Blind: 5 4
Gowen flopped top pair and an inside straight draw but was trailing her opponent who made two pair on the flop. The 8 came on the turn, no help to either player, but the 3 hit the river, giving Gowen a better two pair and the win. Gowen raked the pot, doubling up early to about 40,000 as she elimianted her opponent. " I didn't double check," she said. "I thought I had ace-five." She then said that if she would have double checked her cards again she wouldn't have called.
Opponent Slow-Plays Aces, Binger Gets Trapped
In a three-way limped pot, the flop came 10 8 3 . The player in the big blind bet out 400 and Michael Binger made the call as the small blind folded. The turn borught the A , and the big blind bet 1,000. Binger thought for a moment before calling. The river was the 4 , and the big blind bet 2,500. Binger made the call and the big blind turned over A A for top set. Binger mucked his cards and fell down to about 16,000 after the hand.
Scharf Practice
German Eddy Scharf has set about gathering chips at his table. The two-time bracelet winner bet around the pot of 4,000 on the river with the board reading Q 10 7 Q 9 and got his opponent to lay down. He is now up to almost 25,000.
Parky Poker
Irishman Padraig Parkinson has been quite active at what he described as a "passive" table. He won a succession of small pots uncontested until one player played back at him, forcing him to fold to a bet and he is currently sitting on just over his starting stack.

Level 2 Update
Jul 09, '07
Level 1 ended with a twenty minute break for the players and we are now about halfway through Level 2. Phil Hellmuth finally made his big entrance today, and by the looks of his outfit it’s not quite clear whether his wife dropped him off out front or if he hopped on his dirt-bike, jumped through a burning ring of fire and was then shot out of a cannon onto the feature table.
Sniper at Work
Just like a well-trained sniper lurking on the hillside and waiting for his mark, Padraig Parkinson just flat called an $800 raise with aces. The player in seat no.8 raised the pot to $800 before the flop and made two callers out of Parkinson and the player in the big blind. The flop came Q 9 5 and seat no.8 pushed all-in. The big blind dropped out and Parkinson quickly called. Seat no.8 turned over K Q for top pair while Parkinson showed A A for the over pair. The turn and river brought the A and the 9 , seat no. 8 drawing dead on the turn while Parkinson raked in a huge pot with a set of aces.
Passing Padraig Parkinson’s table later CardPlayer.com asked if things were still quiet. ‘Are you joking me?,’ he blurted out. ‘I’ve played nearly every bloody hand and could have been knocked out three times already,’ he said with a slightly stunned look on his face. He has $24,550 in chips.
Check back after the next break for the latest installment of his Pro Blog for details.
Some other notable Euro chip counts include:
Julian Thew $25,000 – seated at a table with Parkinson
Scott Gray $15,600
Ken Powell $13,025
Rene Mouritsen $21,350
George Danzer $7,375
Adrian Walsh $17,525
Paul Testud $26,700
Surindar Sunar $14,300
Don Fagan $25,325
Gavin Smith Can’t Buy A Flop
On a flop of 8 4 2 , Gavin Smith bet out $1,350 only to be called by the player in seat no. 8. The turn brought the 7 and this time seat no. 8 led out with $2,600. Smith made the call and the river brought the A . Seat no.8 quickly shoved all-in for $6,175 and once again, Smith made the call. Seat no.8 turned over J 3 for the flush on the turn and Smith just shook his head and threw his hand into the muck.
Freddy Deeb Playing Small-Pot Poker…and doing well
On a flop of Q Q 8 , Freddy Deeb bet out $600 and the player in seat no. 1 made the call. The turn brought the 2 and this time Deeb fired $800 at the pot. Seat no. 1 made another call and the river brought the 3 . Both players check around and Deeb turned over 9 9 for two pair and the win. Deeb rakes a modest pot and brings his chip count to over $35,000 after this hand.
Oh No You Didn’t….
On a flop of K 6 4 , Phil Hellmuth bet out $700 and got a quick call from the player in seat no. 2. The turn brought the Q and both players checked around. The river brought the 4 and once again, both players checked around. Hellmuth turned over 10 9 for ten-high, and seat no. 1 threw his cards into the muck. So Hellmuth wins a pot with ten-high, no big deal. What was a big deal however was that Hellmuth actually showed up to one of the feature tables wearing a custom “Phil Hellmuth” race-suit. His name was written all over it, so just incase you have a hard time spotting him in the Amazon Room today, look for the seven-foot tall guy in the skin-tight neoprene jump suit.
Wisdom Before Age
Third youngest bracelet winner and PokerStars team member, James Mackey was present in the Amazon Room today, but Level 2 didn’t bring him much action. The player in seat no. 5 moved all-in for $3,000 before the flop and Mackey made the call. Seat no. 5 turned over 8 8 while Mackey showed A Q . The board came 8 7 3 10 6 , giving seat no. 5 a set and offering no help to Mackey’s over card draw. Seat no. 5 doubles through the bracelet holder while Mackey has to wait for another hand to make his next move.

Almost 4 Tables
Jun 21, '07
There are currently 37 players remaining. The players are on break while the $500 chips are being colored off the tables.
David Colclough was eliminated just before the break. He was unable to overcome Chau Giang's Aces. Humberto Brenes, and his shark were also sent packing courtesy of Giang's Aces. Giang took about $40,000 off of Brenes in a previous pot, with a pot sized value bet on the river. Both players had Kings (Brenes had a flush draw that missed), but Chau had an Ace kicker to trump Brenes's Queen. Later on a K-8-7 board, Brenes moved-in and got called by Giang. Brenes could only muster a pair of eights, and he was eliminated.
David Williams has managed to build his stack up a bit with some savvy plays as well. First he picked off a bluff on the river with only a pair of tens. Then in a pot with Michael Binger, he forced Binger to make a big fold. Binger led out with a pot-sized bet of $31,500 on a flop of 7 3 3 . Williams then raised all in for $63,000 total. Binger would be all in himself if he called. Binger stewes for a while then showed A J as he mucked his hand.
Padraig Parkinson was eliminated by Gioi Luong. Parkinson moved all in for his last $14,000 and was called by three players. Luong pushed the other callers out on the A Q 3x flop. Parkinson held the nut flush draw, and Luong had Aces and Queens. The turn was the Q filling up Luong, and the river was meaningless.
Eoghan O'Dea has dropped from $130,000 in chips to $52,000 at a tough table containing Mike Sexton and Ram Vaswani.
Julian Gardiner has $110,000 and Andreas Krause has around $100,000.
