Players Left: 190 of 1,397 Average Stack: 37,000 Chip Leaders: Matthias Kuerschner - 130,000 Eliminations: Jean-Robert Bellande Big Hands:
After a J Hamby forced to venture to new table Currently Jared 'TheWacoKidd' Hamby has over 40,000 chips. His table just broke up though, and according to a player at another table its the last thing he would have wanted. Apparently he had been raising frequently and manhandling the other players. This late in a tournament it's rare to find a table where a player can get away with that kind of play, but for a while perhaps Hamby did.
Jimmy Tran raised from the cutoff position to 2,700 and Vanessa Selbst reraised to 7,000 from the button. Tran, who would later say he had K-Q, asked Selbst if she had pocket jacks repeatedly and Selbst replied every time, "No shame in folding." Eventually he did, and Selbst currently has 15,000 chips. Tran has 88,000 chips and is among the chip leaders.

The table folded around to the big blind in seat 2. He thought for a couple of moments and then pushed all in for 1,350. Brenes took off his headphones and paused his mp3 player as he tanked for a couple of minutes. He measured out a call and held it in his hand, but the shark could not chomp down on his pray as he threw his cards into the muck. After the hand, Brenes stood at around 9,000 in chips. The small blind and the big blind folded quickly and Schoenberg added to her short stack, but she has a lot of work to do if she wants to do any damage in this tournament. Seif Muscles Out His Opponent Facing a preflop raise of 600, Mark Seif popped it to 2,500 total. The player in seat 2 tanked for over three minutes. He finally folded and Seif added to his stack, which now stands at around 21,000. 83 Players RemainJul 14, '07 There are 83 players remaining in the field and judging by the recent eliminations, no one is safe. The players are in level 21 now and the blinds are $12,000-$24,000 with a $3,000 ante.Bird No Longer With Us Bill Edler raised to $70,000 from early position and Lee Childs reraised to $205,000. John Bird came over the top all in for $505,000 and Edler threw his cards in the muck. Childs made the call and had Bird covered. Bird showed K K and Childs was holding A A . The board came 9 6 5 2 2 and Childs took down the massive pot and Bird was sent to the rail.Feel the Rush Lee Watkinson has been on an absolute tear in the last hour, chipping up to $4,600,000 and claiming the number two spot on the leaderboard. Watkinson's quiet and humble demeanor often keeps him out of the spotlight but the players at his table almost always find out the hard way how dangerous he can really be. Jared Hamby raised to $75,000 from late position and was reraised by Lee Watkinson to $200,000 from the small blind. Hamby reraised all in and Watkinson took no time in making the call. Hamby had pushed for a little more than $500,000 and showed the table K Q . Watkinson had called with A Q . The flop came 8 7 3 and Hamby started getting his chips in order to hand them over to Watkinson. The turn was the 6 and needing only a king to stay alive, Hamby had all but admitted defeat. The J hit on the river and Watkinson won the hand with ace high. The very next hand as Watkinson was stacking his chips in racks to be colored up, Jeff Weiss limped into the pot for $24,000. The other eight players at the table expressed their surprise at his bet, bewildered by the concept. One player said aloud, "It's about time someone limped. That's the first bet that wasn't a raise in an hour." Watkinson called the limp from the button and the player in the small blind folded. "You have no idea how bad those cards were to fold there," said the player in seat eight. The player in seat nine checked his option and three players saw a flop of K 6 5 . Weiss bet out $90,000 and Watkinson raised him to $300,000. The player in seat nine folded and Weiss made the call. The turn was the 5 and Weiss checked. Watkinson bet out $425,000 and Weiss again made the call. The river was the 7 and Weiss led out with a bet of $350,000. Watkinson thought for only a moment before looking at the dealer and declaring that he was all in. Weiss went deep into the tank, trying to figure out what Watkinson was doing. Weiss eventually looked at Watkinson and said, "I call." Watkinson flipped over 6 6 for the flopped set and Weiss mucked his hand high enough to only show the bottom card, the A . Weiss was eliminated and Watkinson had a whole new pile of chips to rack up.

Either way, today should be both intense and competitive as this massive field is whittled down to the final three or four tables.Dag Martin Mikkelsen, hailing from Norway and profiled in April in our Generation Next column, is the chip leader heading into day five. Mikkelsen's chip stack is hovering at $3,740,000. Lee Watkinson, Team PokerStars member Humberto Brenes, Scotty Nguyen, Huck Seed, Daniel Alaei, Gus Hansen and Jared Hamby have all taken their seats and are ready to gamble. Stick with CardPlayer.com to follow all the action of day five and stay tuned for a list of the select players that will be featured today in our Pro Blogs. Player Tags: Lee Watkinson, Humberto Brenes, Scotty Nguyen, Huck Seed, Gus Hansen, Daniel Alaei, Jared Hamby The Night TrainJul 13, '07 Gus Makes a Move, Runs Into MonstersSeat one raises to $48,000, Tuan Lam calls, and Gus Hanson makes the call. The flop comes 10 10 8 , Seat one checks, Lam checks and Hanson bets $110,000. Seat one moves all in, and Lam makes the call. Hanson looks suprised, then mucks his cards. Seat one has a stack that almost reaches $1,000,000, but Lam has him covered. Seat one tables 10 9 , but is in serious trouble when Lam rolls over 8 8 for the full house. The next two cards come K 2 , and seat one is eliminated while Lam cracks the $2,000,000 mark.Hanson Strikes Back It is folded to Tuan Lam and he raises to $50,000 from the cutoff. Gus Hanson decideds to defend his big blind, and reraises to $148,000. Lam reraises all in, and Hanson goes deep into the tank. He is surrounded by ESPN cameras as he thinks. He finally makes the call for his last $690,000, and shows down 10 10 . Lam tables Q Q , and Hanson is a huge dog. The flop comes K 10 8 , and Hanson spikes his two outer. The next two cards come 5 3 , and Hanson doubles up. All he could say was, "Sick, so so sick." Brandon Adams Not Backing Down Seat No. 1 raises to $48,000 and Adams immediately makes it $200,000 to go. Bill Edler is in the big blind and takes a long while before slowly mucking his cards. Seat No. 1 thinks for a bit before also folding. Very quietly and without showing down a hand, Brandon Adams has increased his stack to $1,380,000. Isaac Haxton Picks On John Bird John Bird limps from middle position and Isaac Haxton limps from the cutoff as well. The big blind checks his option and the three players see a 9 5 3 flop. Bird bets $40,000 and only Haxton makes the call. The turn is the 3 and both players quickly check. The river is the Q and Bird checks. Haxton sits still for a few moments before announcing a bet of $100,000. Bird goes into the tank, agonizing over his decision. Eventually Bird says, "Will you show me if I fold?" Haxton stays quiet for about thirty seconds and then says, "I guess." Bird makes the call and Haxton shows A 4 for the nut flush. After the hand, Haxton says, "Well that worked well enough." The very next hand on a board of A J 3 Q Bird bets $100,000 and Haxton calls. The A hits the river and Bird quickly checks. Haxton bets $175,000 and Bird mucks, clearly frustrated. Alaei and Hamby Win Without Showdown Daniel Alaei and Jared Hamby both won some sizable pots this level without showdown. Alaei raised to $44,000 and Diego Cordovez called. The flop brought the A Q 6 and Cordovez quickly checked. Alaei bet $64,000 after careful consideration and Cordovez folded. Alaei picked up another big pot before the flop when he once again raised just short of three times the big blind and a deep stacked player small blind reraised to $120,000. After a moment Alaei quietly announced all-in. His opponent folded and Alaei took another big pot down. Player of the year contender Jared Hamby picked up $42,000 each from three opponents with an all-in raise preflop. Winning pots without contest is always favorable. As Bill Edler told a Cardplayer.com reporter, "It's good work if you can find it."Notable Chip Counts

Once they returned they were set to play one last hour before ending the night.Minieri Breaks $2,000,000 Dario Minieri was the first player known to cross the $2,000,000 mark. He ended the day as the chip leader with $2,400,000. Payout Jump With the elimination of the 352nd place player a new payout level was reached. All remaining 351 players are guaranteed $39,445. The Wrath Of Kahn PokerStars Supernova Haved "RainKahn" Kahn was seated at the ESPN featured table with Daniel Alaei for the last hour and a half of the night. In that short span he was involved in a number of big pots, and sent a few opponents to the rail. The ruckus at the featured table was heard from across the room as Kahn got all-in with Q Q against his opponents pocket aces only to have the board bring the Q Q 8 . The 5 on the turn meant his opponent was drawing dead, and Kahn doubled to roughly $940,000. He later eliminated another opponent with A J against two fours with a board of A 7 6 K Q . Kahn even won a decently sized pot against Daniel Alaei without showdown. Tran Dodges Flush Mimi Tran raised from middle position to $18,000, Nick Binger called from the cutoff, the player in seat No. 9 called from the button, and the player in seat No. 2 called from the big blind. The flop came 6 5 4 , the player in the big blind checked, Tran bet $35,000, Binger called, the player on the button raised to $100,000, the big blind folded, Tran called after much deliberation, and Binger folded. The turn card was the 2 , Tran checked and the player in seat No. 9 moved all in. Tran showed her pocket Jacks as she folded, and her opponent graciously showed her the A 10 as he folded. The Waco Kidd Cometh A player in seat four raises to $25,000 and is flat called by seat six. It is folded to Jared Hamby and he says, "One time dealer!", as he looks at his cards then he immediately moves all in for $98,000. Both players call and the flop comes A Q 4 . Seat four pushes all in with A Q , and seat six folds. Hamby rolls over A A , and takes down a massive pot. Noah Schwartz has taken credit for the success, because earlier Hamby has rubbed his Star of David for good luck. The Camera's Aren't Just For You Seated with Hamby was Tobey Maguire and Humberto Brenes. That obviously lead to a plethora of ESPN cameras at the table, but Brenes wasn't sure why. When Hamby told him that Maguire was a move star, He half jokingly whispered to Cardplayer.com, "That is why all the cameras are here, I though they were for me." Humberto immediately began to ham it up with Maguire and Jared Hamby said,"Your Poker Famous, Poker Famous is good, but he's actually famous." Apparently The Force Was Not With Him Leif Force was eliminated after getting all-in with J-J against A-A and failing to get any help from the board. Tate Taps Cordovez End Of Day 337 players will return for day tomorrow at noon. Stay tuned to Cardplayer.com for all of your live updates through the conclusion of the event. Notable Chip Counts

They will return to $1,200-$2,400 blinds and a $300 ante for level eleven, but the level will almost certainly not play out. With fewer than 400 players remaining, and play set to stop when 350 players remain, the day could be over within the hour. Eliminations Joe Sebok's wild ride came to an end this past hour. After battling back from a short stack only to get knocked back down a number of times, Sebok was eliminated this past hour. Team PokerStars members Adam Schoenfeld and Tom McEvoy were also sent to the rail this level. Dunst Helps A Brother Out Tony Dunst, who is almost always sporting a coat jacket, slacks and a button down, offered up his sharp duds to a smooth-talking british tablemate who was hitting on the dealer. Dunst was joking with the brit, who he described inherently smooth due to his accent, when he offered his shades and jacket up so that the brit might have a better shot wooing the dealer. Dunst is probably in such a good mood due to the fact that he has climbed above $400,000. Hamby Takes A Hit Jared Hamby, who was recently toward the very top of the leader board, took a number of hits to his stack this past hour and fell to just below $200,000. The player of the year contender has had an impressive year so far, and a deep finish in this event would certainly lock up serious points for Hamby. Fitoussi Falls Foul of Flush Frenchman and runner-up in the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. event, Bruno Fitoussi, dropped $55,000 in chips when he fell foul of a nut flush on a board that had 7 J A - his opponent had K Q![]() Gardner Grows Stack Englishman Julian Gardner, one-time runner-up in the Main Event, doubled up to around $138,000 in chips when he got into a confrontation with the small blind to his big blind. Julian's A-9 was good enough to best the small blind's Q-10 and he is now sitting pretty with day three looming large on the horizon. Player Tags: Joe Sebok, Jared Hamby Hour One RecapJul 10, '07 Why So Quiet? With only 1,037 players starting the day and no other activity in the Amazon room, things are eerily quiet. No cash games, no spectators, no satellites and the Amazon room at half capacity makes for a very different feeling on this day two. The sound of rustling chips usually evokes a feeling of being in a rainstorm, today it sounds more like crickets. Early Eliminations Director, actor, writer, these are all titles that apply to Nick Cassavetes. The title of Main Event Champion looks like it will not be added to that list. Cassavetes came into the day with a relatively healthy chip stack. With the board showing 10 8 3 and $60,000 behind him, Cassavetes found himself all in against only one opponent. Cassavetes showed J J and said to his opponent, "you got a set of eights?" His read was spot on as his opponent turned over 8 8 . The turn was the 2 and the river brought the K . Cassavetes shook his opponent's hand and exited the Amazon room.Joe Hachem, member of Team Pokerstars, was also eliminated in the early hours of day two. Hachem got all his money in on a flop of A-10-10 with A-8. His opponent in the hand called him with A-Q and when the turn and river both bricked out, the queen ended up playing. Hachem was out kicked and eliminated from this year's Main Event. Bringing a little bit of humor to the room today was Ivan Saul. Playing for Pokerstars, Saul pushed all in before the flop from late position. The player in seat three asked the dealer to count out the bet and Saul immediately stood up and started putting on a show. "Seat open! Table 64!" shouted Saul, inciting laughter from Kirk Morrison who is seated at his table. Saul, clad in an Argentina hat and towel draped around his neck, looked more like a crazed World Cup fan than a poker player. "Seat open! Seat open! Table 64!" shouted Saul again. The player in seat three called and Saul showed A 4 . The player in seat three showed 3 3 . The board came Q J 6 5 5 and Saul was sent to the rail.Looks like Montel Williams won't be leaving his television show anytime soon, after busting out today he'll more than likely keep his day job. Williams was all in with A 4 up against his opponent in seat eight who was holding pocket sevens. The board bricked out for Williams when it came J 3 2 J 9 and he exited the Amazon room.Up and Down Day for Sebok Joe Sebok came into the day short stacked and has had a rocky day thus far. Sebok was able to double up early to almost $23,000 when he was all in with pocket kings against Pascal Perrault and his pocket eights. The board bricked out for Perrault and Sebok's kings held up. With things looking up for Sebok, he played the rush and took a stab at a point just a few hands later. Sebok made a large bet on the turn and was met with a large raise from his opponent. Sebok got away from the hand but now has only $13,000 to work with. Hamby Passed the $100K Mark Jared Hamby, one of poker's hottest new players, has just passed the $100,000 chip mark. The player in seat three at Hamby's table raised to $3,700 preflop and Hamby bumped it up to $10,700. The player in seat nine called from the small blind and the initial raiser got out of the way. The flop came J 4 3 and the player in seat nine checked. Hamby bet out $15,000 and the player in seat nine called without hesitation. The turn was the 5 and again the player in seat nine checked. Hamby pushed all in and the player in seat nine shook his head in frustration. Seat nine eventually folded and and Hamby asked him, "queens?" The player in seat nine nodded and Hamby showed the table his pocket kings. Hamby took down the pot and now has $105,000.Featured Table Sharing the felt at today's featured table are "Miami" John Cernuto, Mack Lee, Sabyl Cohen and Scotty Nguyen. Notable Chip Counts
