Level 11 Update; Daniel Alaei Eliminated, Durrr Chips Up to Top 10Jun 10, '10 Blinds: 600-1,200 with a 300 ante Players Remaining: 42 out of 101 Average Chip Count: 72,142 Card Player Chip Counts: Daniel Negreanu – 98,500 Tournament Leaderboard: 1. George Danzer – 130,000 Notable Eliminations: Daniel Alaei Big Hands:
Daniel Alaei got all of his chips in before the draw against Daniel Negreanu. Alaei drew one with his 9-8-5-4 and Negreanu also drew one with his 8-4-3-2. Alaei caught a K and Negreanu caught a Q to give Negreanu the pot as he is just below the 100,000 chip mark. Nicholas Broncato Eliminated Peter Gould opened to 3,400 and was met with a three-bet by Michael Mizrachi on the button to 8,500. Nicholas Broncato was in the big blind and moved all-in for his last 32,500. Gould took a while before making the call and Mizrachi got out of the way. Broncato took one and tabled his 7-6-4-2 and Gould stood pat with his 8-5-4-3-2. Gould was dealt a 6 and he was sent to the rail, while Gould climbed to 108,000. Durrr Moves Chips to Take Pot Tom Dwan made it 4,100 under-the-gun and was called by Nick Schulman in teh cutoff. John Juanda was on the button and opted to reraise to 16,500. Dwan went into the tank before announcing that he was all-in. Schulman and Juanda both folded. Dwan showed a 3 after shuffling through his cards and is up to 88,000. Schulman has 83,000 and Juanda dropped to 42,000. Cantu Feeds the Bear We missed the action, but we saw Barry Greenstein doubling through Brandon Cantu as Greensteins 8-6 low bested Cantu’s 8-7. Baxter Takes a Small One Eli Elezra opened to 3,500 and both Billy Baxter and Nick Schulman came along for the ride. Schulman drew two, Baxter drew one, and Elezra stood pat. The action was checked around after the draw and Elezra announced he had a jack. Baxter quickly showed his J-7-5-3-2 to take the pot and move to 66,000 in chips. Player Tags: Barry Greenstein, Eli Elezra, Daniel Alaei, Tom Dwan, Brandon Cantu, Billy Baxter Level Four: Nick Binger ReloadsJun 09, '10 Blinds: 100-200 with a 50 ante Players Remaining: 99 out of 101 Notable Eliminations: Players Twitter Accounts: Daniel Negreanu Note: Players have gone on a 60-minute dinner break and will return at 10:25 p.m. Big Hands:
Nick Binger raised to 600 before the draw and Doyle Brunson made the call. Action then folded around to David Williams who popped it to 2,000. Binger then moved in for 4,100 more. Brunson had enough and mucked but Williams made the call. Williams then stood pat and Binger drew one card. Williams turned over J-10-7-6-4 and laughed when Binger gasped in frustration. “I threw away a jack,” Binger said in frustration. He showed 9-6-5-3 but mucked the card he was dealt and had to use one the first of his add-ons. Williams was up to 24,000 with one add-on behind. Smith Gets A Boost We picked up the action on this hand after the draw. Justin Smith bet 800 and he was called by his opponent in seat 3. “Show me you 10,” seat 3 said. Smith showed an 8-7-6-4-2, which was good as his opponent tabled 9-8-6-3-2. Smith won a crucial pot as he was at 23,000 with no add-on chips behind.
Picking up the action on the draw, the player in seat 2 took two cards, John Juanda took one card and Max Pescatori took two cards. All three players then checked and Juanda turned over Q-9-7-6-2. “Ship it over!” Juanda comically yelled. “Yes!” Both of his opponents mucked and Juanda threw out a playful fist pump and raked in the pot. He was at 18,000 with two add-ons while Pescatori was at 5,000 with two add-ons. Baxter Nabs A Pot Picking up the action on the draw, the player in seat 4 took two cards and Billy Baxter did the same. J.C. Tran stood pat and then Baxter led out for 1,500. Both of his opponents mucked relatively quickly and Baxter was at 16,000 with two add-ons remaining. Tran was at 11,000 with all three add-ons behind. Left In The Deck:
Daniel Negreanu asked the floor earlier what would happen with his add-ons if he was blinded out and not present. The floor answered that his add-ons would be used one at a time and not all at once. Negreanu’s presence in the tournament has disappeared as he has gone off to play in event no. 18 ($2,000 limit hold’em). He had a relatively short stack and used this time to try and build it up as the field will go on a 60-minute dinner break after this level, giving Negreanu two hours to build up a decent stack in that event or bust. Level 13 UpdateAug 24, '09 Blinds: 1,500-3,000 with a 400 ante Players Remaining: 34 out of 279
1. Bryan Devonshire — 640,000 Average Chip Count: 246,176 Notable Eliminations: Michael Kamran Hand of the Level:
Stan Jablonski raised to 6,500 preflop from middle position and Sergei Veyster reraised to 15,500 from late position. Scotty Nguyen reraised all in for 36,500 total from the button and Jablonski went into the tank. He made the call and Veyster made the call as well. Their cards: Jablonski: A Board: 6 Nguyen was eliminated on the hand and Jablonski and Veyster split the pot. Jablonski held 90,000 after the hand and Veryster held 240,000. Level Summary Play has slowed as the money bubble approaches. The field dropped down to 34 players and the top 27 will all walk away with prize money. The plan for today is constantly changing, but the current plan is to keep going for five levels of 18 players, whichever comes first. The last level was particularly rough for Billy Baxter, who saw his stack fall from the top 10. He now holds 62,000 and the seven-time bracelet winner and member of the poker hall of fame is in danger of missing the money. Player Tags: Scotty Nguyen, Billy Baxter |
