Table 42
Roy" The Oracle" Winston Eliminated
Both Alan Smurfit and Roy Winston were involved in a huge pot with three other players at their table. The action was capped at 800 each or 4,00 total before the flop, Winston was all in. The finall board was Q887J, where Smurfit turned over 109 for the nut straight to the queen. Smurfit flopped an inside straight draw, turned an open-ended straight draw, and rivered the nuts. Smurfit raked a huge pot, putting him in good shape to win his table as Roy Winston hit the rail.
Dutch Boyd Eliminated
Short stacked, Dutch Boyd got it all in with J2 against an opponent holding Q9. The board came AK487, no help for either player as queen-high held up. Boyd was not happy with the way things went today as he stormed out of the room early in Level 4.
JC Tran Flops Quads, Sam Grizzle Hits The rail
Hot off of his big win last night, JC Tran got involved in a pot with Sam Grizzle from the small blind. Grizzle raised before the flop and Tran called. The flop came 888, and Tran bet out. Grizzle raised all in and Tran called. Tran was quick to turn over his cards, exposing Q8 for flopped quads as Grizzle just shook his head and threw his hand away before making an early exit here on Day 1.
Joe Sebok Eliminated
It was set over set that ended the day early for Joe Sebok. Losing most of chips to mark Seif with a set of sixes against Seif's set of jacks, Sebok got his last 800 in the pot on the very next hand with pocket kings against Matt Graham's Q-J. The board came A-10-9-J-8, giving Graham a straight to the queen on the river. Sebok was eliminated around the half-way mark in Level 4.

Hands and Storylines:
Mizzi knocks one out
Sorel Mizzi limped preflop and was one of four players to see a A96 flop. The player under the gun bet 600 and Mizzi raised to 1,725. Mizzi's opponent thought it over for a couple minutes before calling. The turn was the 7 and after a check, Mizzi bet 3,325. This time his opponent only thought for a few seconds before moving all in for 6,425. Mizzi looked concerned but made the call. But when Mizzi asked if he had two pair and was told no, he felt better. He held 9-6 and was against A-J, and a trey on the river gave Mizzi the pot. After the hand Mizzi had roughly 15,000 chips.
Shulman folds on river
With the board T3277, Jeff Shulman thought for a few minutes about calling an all-in bet by his opponent of 7,250. If he called and lost he would have just 125 chips, so it was a huge decision. Shulman had called bets of 1,000 and 2,000 on the flop and turn, respectively, perhaps making his large bet on the river more perplexing. Ultimately Shulman folded, and later in the level he was eliminated from the tournament.
Dutch Boyd eliminated by a ghost
The details of the hand are not known, but when Dutch Boyd was grabbing his things and heading out, he said to the dealer (with a smile): "I hope one day I'm a dealer and you're playing and I can knock you out like that." According to Dmitri Nobles, who was also at the table, Boyd was all in against a player who thought he had lost and flipped his hand over and walked way. But it turned out he had won and knocked out Boyd.
Jacob Wins Monster Pot
Alex Jacob was under the gun and raised to 550. The player in seat 3 called, and then the button moved all his chips into the middle, meaning a call of another 5425 was necessary. Jacob did just that and showed KK. The button showed JJ. The flop came out A74, but neither player could back into a flush. The turn was the Q and river was the 6 and Jacob scooped the pot.
Tough River for Smith
Gavin Smith was the button and called a raise to 625 by the cut-off. The flop came Q108 and the cut-off player moved all-in for 2375. Smith made the call and showed K10 for middle pair. He was ahead of his opponent's King-Jack for the open-ender. The 2 on the turn changed little but the 9 on the river gave his opponent the straight.

who respectively completed and checked. The flop came 983, and the blinds checked to Madsen.Madsen made a bet of 325, which was called by the small blind. The big blind folded, and the 5 was dealt on the turn. The small blind checked, and Madsen checked behind. The small blind again checked the K on the river, and Madsen deliberated before announcing that he held two pair. His opponent turned over 10332 for a set of threes, and Madsen mucked his cards.
Allen Cunningham Eliminated
Proving to be a rough level for former WSOP players of the year, Allen Cunningham was eliminated by another opponent at his table. On a board of AJ632, Cunningham’s opponent took the last of Cunningham’s chips with 9554, a flush for high and a wheel for the nut low.Cunningham exited the tournament area.
Gavin Smith Loses One, Still Doing Well
Though still far above the tournament average, Full Tilt pro Gavin Smith took a mild hit after joining his new table.“I’ve already folded more hands here than at my last table,” Smith joked as he folded for the second time at the table. In one hand, Smith raised to 525 from the cut-off, and his opponent in the big blind made the call. The flop came AJ7, and the big blind checked to Smith.Smith bet out 1,100, and the big blind called. The 6 was dealt on the turn and both players checked. The K fell on the river and the big blind led out for a bet of 1,800.Smith deliberately before releasing his hand, happy to see his opponent show him K43 for a king-high flush and a four-trey low.
