Hands:
Shannon Shorr Scores Big
On a board reading Q 7 2 8 5 with a pot of more than 50,000 in it, Shannon Shorr put his opponent all in for his last 23,000.
His opponent called, showing pocket kings, but Shorr’s 6 4 was good for a straight, giving him the knockout and a new stack of 122,000 in chips.
A Double For Dennis
Dennis Phillips had his stack dwindle down to about 25 blinds when he finally got his chance for a double. Phillips was able to get all in preflop with pocket tens against his opponents pocket threes.
The board rolled out J 4 2 K A and Phillips doubled up to just under 19,000 in chips.
Michael DeMichele Gets Doubled
On a flop of J 5 3 , Michael DeMichele bet and his opponent raised to 7,500. DeMichele reraised to 11,750 and his opponent wasted no time before moving all in.
DeMichele didn’t like it, but he finally called off his chips and was relieved to see that this K K was ahead of Q J . The turn and river fell 8 5 and DeMichele doubled to about 35,000 in chips.
Defending Champions Stays In The Game
The World Series of Poker main event hasn’t been too kind to defending champion Jonathan Duhamel today, but he recently scored a double up to keep him in contention.
Duhamel was all in for his last 15,000 or so holding A-K and had his opponent’s A-Q dominated. The board fell clean for Duhamel and he doubled back to his starting stack.
