Phil Galfond was an up-and-coming player on the tournament circuit, but he had been killing the online cash games for years. This young professional studied philosophy at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, for two and a half years before dropping out to focus on poker.
Galfond plays high-stakes cash games regularly, and he has been featured on GSN's High Stakes Poker. He's cashed two times in the 2007 World Series of Poker and then two more times in 2006. He also finished deep in the 2008 World Poker Tour Championship, ultimately coming in 70th out of 545 players for a nearly $40,000 win. At the 2008 WSOP, Galfond won his first bracelet in the $5,000 buy-in pot-limit Omaha with rebuys event for nearly $818,000.
