Boom Boom Boom, Barch Wins!
Jun 12, '10
Medic Falls in 4th Place $74,946)
Nenad Medic entered the final table as a near 3-1 chip leader over his opponents. Unfortunately for him, things did not go his way today as he gradually lost chips and was ultimately eliminated in 4th place.
Medic raised to 140,000, putting nearly half of his chips in the pot in the process. Tex Barch re-raised the pot, and Medic called all in.
Barch: A Q 7 6
Medic: Q 10 9 4
The flop came K J J , giving Medic straight draws, but the board finished K and J , not helping the former chip leader and eliminating him in 4th place. He took $74,946 for performance.
Dang Hanged in 3rd Place ($102,306)
One hand after Medic busted Trai Dang found himself all in, also against Barch.
On a flop of Qc4sJh Barch bet 250,000 and Dang moved all in. He was called and saw that he was in trouble.
Barch: A K K 3
Dang: K Q 10 7
The turn was the 6 and the river was no help either, sending dang out in 3rd place with $102,306.
This hand left a huge mountain in front of Klinghammer Thibaut. Barch held 3.5 million of the chips, compared to Thibaut’s 410,000.
Tex Wins Omaha! Thibaut Finishes Runner-Up ($158,698)
After hours of no eliminations, it took three hands for the final three eliminations to take place and the winner to be crowned.
In a limped pot the flop came J A 7 and Tex Barch fired out 60,000. Klinghammer Thibaut called and the turn brought the 10 . Barch put Thibaut all in for his last 200,000 or so and was called. Their hands:
Barch: J 8 7 2
Thibaut: 10 8 7 2
Barch held two pair and a straight draw while Thibaut showed a smaller two pair and straight draw. The river was the Q and Barch’s hand held, eliminating Thibaut in second place. Thibaut won $158,698 for his runner-up finish.
Barch finished 3rd in the WSOP Main Event back in 2005, winning $2.5 million. With tonight’s win he collected the second largest tournament prize of his career, $256,919 and collected his very own WSOP bracelet.

Four Eliminations So Far
Jun 12, '10
When the final table began Nenad Medic sat with a near 3-1 chip lead over the next nearest player, Tex Barch. Medic quietly remained the chip leader as the first four victims were eliminated from the final table.
Denton Pfister First To Go, Finishes in 9th Place ($19,259)
John “Tex” Barch raised to 40,000 and Denton Pfister re-popped it to 120,000.
Barch called and the flop came 6 2 A . With Pfister holding just 37,000 behind, he went all in and Barch made the call.
Pfister: Q Q 10 6
Barch: A K 2 8
Barch already had the lead with two pair and the K turn gave him an event stronger two pair. The K river changed nothing and Pfister was the first elimination of the day, winning $19,259.
Patterson Out in 8th Place ($24,695)
Several raises back and forth between Tyler Patterson and Blair Rodman left Patterson all in preflop. Their hands:
Rodman: A A 8 5
Patterson: A Q 10 6
Patterson’s hand was never ahead on a board that ran 8 10 3 A 9 . Patterson was out in 9th place, taking $24,695.
Rodman Booted By Thibaut in 7th Place ($32,007)
Blair Rodman made it 26,000 to go and Klinghammer Thibaut made the call from the big blind.
On a flop of 9 6 4 Thibaut checked to Rodman who bet 55,000, only to have Thibaut check-raise him all in on a pot-sized bet 223,000. Rodman called and they showed their hands.
Rodman: 9 8 7 5
Thibaut: A J 7 6
Both players were heavily drawing, but the A turn put Thibaut ahead and the K made it official — Rodman was eliminated in 7th place, winning $32,007 in prize money.
Thibaut had around 790,000 in chips after the hand.
Chang Knocked Out in 6th Place ($41,971)
A short-stacked Chris Hyong Chang raised to 42,000 pre-flop and called off the rest of his chips when Tex Barch re-raised to 150,000. Their hands:
Barch: A A K 10
Chang: A 9 7 4
The board ran 10 4 6 2 Q and Chang was gone in 6th, earning $41,971 for his efforts.

Level 2 Update: Daniel Negreanu Eliminated
Jun 20, '09
Blinds: 100-200
Players Remaining: 250
Notable Eliminations:
Daniel Negreanu
Big Hands:
Matt Vengrin Doubles Through Tex Barch
On a flop of A 8 6 , Tex Barch bets 1,200 and Matt Vengrin calls.
The turn is 10 , and Vengrin checks to Barch who bets 4,000. Vengrin raises all in for 9,000 and change, Barch calls.
Vengrin: A A Q 4
Barch: J 9 8 7
Vengrin gets it in just slightly behind with top set and the nut flush draw against Barch’s made nut straight, but the Q on the turn fills Vengrin as he doubles up this hand.
David Benyamine Triples Up
On a flop of J 9 4 , Bruno Fitoussi bets 800, and a player behind him raises to 2,700. Both David Benyamine and Bruno Fitoussi call the raise.
The turn is the 2 , and Benyamine moves all in for his last 125. Fitoussi raises to 2,000 for the side pot and his opponent calls.
The river is the 8 , and both players check the side pot. Fitoussi mucks and his opponent rakes the side pot with top two pair (J 10 9 4 ). Benyamine turns over Q 10 5 3 for a straight, raking the main pot and tripling up this hand.
Daniel Negreanu Eliminated
Daniel Negreanu was pulling double duty today in both this event and Event # 38. Buying into the $10,000 PLO event when the $2,000 Limit event went on dinner break, Negreanu was already out of add-ons by the time the $2,000 NLH event was back from dinner, never missing a hand as if nothing had happened.
His final PLO hand came when he got it all in on a flop of 8 6 3 .
Negreanu: 10 9 5 4
Opponent: A A J 3
The turn and river are the 8 and the J , no help for Negreanu who makes his way back over to the Amazon Room in record time.
Left In The Deck:
Players took a twenty-minute break at the completion of Level 2 and have just returned at 7:45 pm PDT to begin Level 3.

Level 14 Update: Sandra Naujoks, Tex Barch, Justin Smith Eliminated
Jun 18, '09
Blinds: 2,000-4,000
Players Remaining: 33 out of 363
Chip Counts:
1. Jesper Hougaard – 500,000
2. Rifat Palevic – 390,00
3. Sorel Mizzi – 375,000
4. Isaac Baron – 255,000
5. Ralph Perry – 177,000
6. Anthony Lellouche – 150,000
7. David Ulliott – 109,000
8. James Smyth – 107,000
9. Michael Watson – 90,000
10. Jeff Lisandro – 20,000
Average Chip Count: 165,000
Notable Eliminations:
Sandra Naujoks
Tex Barch
36. Justin Smith – 11,345
Big Hands:

David Ulliott Doubles Up Twice
Severely short stacked with 26,000 in chips, David Ulliott went all-in preflop and was called by an opponent. Ulliott tabled the A A 8 6 and got the perfect flop of the Q 4 2 , to have his opponent drawing stone cold dead. Ulliott is at just 54,000 however, well below average.
Not too long after, Ulliott was put all-in by Justin Smith. Ulliot made the quick call with the majority of his chips already in the middle. Ulliott tabled the A A 5 3 and was up against the A K 9 J of Smith. The flop was safe for Ulliott as it came 9 4 4 . The 7 fell on the turn, making spades safe for a double up. The 10 hit the river and Ulliott is up to 109,000. Smith was at 51,000 before being eliminated shortly after.

Sandra Naujoks Eliminated
Sandra Naujoks was all-in, along with Clayton Newman, against Richard Austin.
Their cards:
Naujoks: 10 10 5 5
Newman: A 4 3 2
Austin: Q 6 8 7
The flop came 5 4 2 . Naujoks flopped top set but was behind against the wheel of Newman. Austin, with his monster drawing hand, was a favorite with the straight and flush draws. Naujoks needed the board to pair in order to survive. Even with the best hand at the moment, Newman had just a 12 percent chance to win, needing to dodge almost the entire deck twice. The J hit the turn and the K fell on the river, as Newman’s wheel miraculously held up. Naujoks was eliminated.
Tex Barch Bubbles To Straight Flush
On a board of A 8 5 6 , Tex Barch was all-in with the J 10 9 7 , for a nine-high straight and a flush draw. His opponent, Richard Austin, held the 7 4 3 3 for a lower straight, but also had a straight flush draw to boot. The disaster for the 2005 Main Event third place finisher came on the river, as the 2 fell, giving Austin a straight flush. Barch bubbled the tournament.

Jeff Lisandro Left With 20,000 Chips
With the J 10 9 8 , Jeff Lisandro had almost all his chips in the middle against the A 10 5 2 of Jonathan Cantor. The flop board ran out A 10 7 A K and Cantor won the pot with his full house. Lisandro has just 20,000 chips to return to after the break.
Left In The Deck:
The players are now in the money.
Action has stopped for a 60 minute dinner break.

Rob Hollink - 620,000
Andy Bloch - 570,000
J.C. Tran - 515,000
Aaron Katz - 420,000
Jerrod Ankenman - 340,000

Rich Chase - 260,000
Tam "Tommy" Hang - 240,000
Eric Froehlich - 230,000
Chris Vitch - 205,000
Average Stack: 311,450
Eliminations:
15th – Michael Mizrachi
16th – Matt Woodward
17th – Tex Barch
18th – Kieu Duong
Big Hands and Storylines:
Bloch Wins Monster Pot; Duong Eliminated
Rob Hollink made it 20,000 to go from middle position. Brock “t soprano” Parker, on Hollink’s left, upped it to 30,000. Then, to Parker’s left, Kieu Duong moved in for 34,000. As if this wasn’t enough action, Andy Bloch popped it up to 40,000. Both Hollink and Parker called. The flop was 10 7 4 ; Hollink checked, Parker checked, Bloch bet, and the other two called. The action followed the same pattern on the J turn. Bloch bet the 5 on the river and this time both Hollink and Parker folded. Bloch’s pocket kings were enough to take down the massive pot and Duong was eliminated.
Tex is Toast
Tex Barch was eliminated in 17th place when his A Q failed to hold against Jerrod Ankenman’s A T . The board rolled out 10 2 2 8 4 and Barch unhappily called down to the river, giving away the last of his chips. Though Barch's night is through, Ankenman is very much in contention with his 330,000.
Matt Woodward Eliminated in 16thPlace
Matt Woodward was all-in pre-flop against J.C. Tran. Tran, on the button, showed an understandably weak 8 7 and was chasing against Woodward’s A Q . Woodward remained stoic on the J 5 3 flop, but his demeanor changed to reflect the 8 on the turn; he rolled his eyes and nodded his head in a resigned fashion. The K on the river sealed Woodward’s exit and he was eliminated in 16th place, taking home $25,615.

Average Stack: 242,200
Eliminations:
19th place – Todd “Dan Druff” Witteles
20th place – Thomas Johnston
21st place – Hoyt Corkins
22nd place – Spencer Lawrence
Big Hands and Storylines:
Corkins Eliminated in 21st Place
Apparently Aaron Katz doesn’t have premium hands all the time. Hoyt Corkins found this out the hard way when his Q Q was cracked by Katz’s 6 5 on a J T 6 3 K board. Katz, who won a $1,500 limit hold’em event in 2004, is on an excellent track to claim his second bracelet. He is currently the chip leader with 530,000.
Thomas Johnston Eliminated in 20th Place
Thomas Johnston declared his “pot-committedness” before the hand as almost his entire stack would be consumed by the big blind. He was still in good spirits as he saw Jerrod Ankenman and Tex Barch cap the betting pre-flop. The flop was A J 5 and both Barch and Ankenman checked. Barch bet the J turn and Ankenman folded. The river was the 5c . When Barch showed A A Johnston, having not looked at his cards claimed, “I could have pocket jacks.” He flipped his cards one at a time. The first was the 5 , eliciting a roar from the table. Unfortunately for Johnston, his second card was the 10 and he had to go, eliminated in 20th place.
Hollink Continues to Straighten Out
Eric Froehlich raised from middle position and the only caller was Rob Hollink in the big blind. The flop was 10 8 7 and Hollink check-called a bet from Froehlich. The turn was a 6 and Hollink checked. “EFro” bet and the man from Groningen put out a raise. Froehlich called and the pair saw the 4 river. Hollink bet and Froehlich called. The two showed:
Hollink: A 9
Froehlich: A A
Hollink’s second straight in as many levels has him up to 250,000, coincidentally, the same amount as Froehlich.

Average Stack: 140,650
Eliminations:
Erick Lindgren
Justin Bonomo
Thomas Wahlroos
Big Hands and Storylines:
Parker Busts Bonomo
Despite doubling up a few hands earlier against Eric Froehlich, Justin Bonomo would see all of his chips disappear against Brock “t soprano” Parker. Rob Hollink raised from the cutoff and Bonomo, with only 15,000 total chips, raised it up. Parker 4-bet from the big blind, Hollink called, and Bonomo tossed his final few chips in. Hollink called Parker’s bet on the J 6 2 flop, but folded to a second-barrel on the 2 turn. With that, Parker took down the small side pot, but he still needed to best Bonomo’s holding in order to claim the sizeable main pot. Parker showed A K , and ace-king high was well ahead of Bonomo’s A 9 . The river was the 7 and Bonomo found himself out 10 places before the money.
Spencer Lawrence Giveth, and Spencer Lawrence Taketh Away
Thomas Wahlroos was all-in for his final 11,500 against Spencer Lawrence. Lawrence had a meager Q 7 , but was racing against the Finn’s 5 5 . The board was a safe one for Wahlroos – K 6 2 9 K – and he raked in a pot of 27,000. That relief was short-lived however. Although their table was broken when they reached 36 players, the duo found themselves seated together once again at a new table. It was here that Lawrence’s pocket nines would hold up against Wahlroos’s pocket sevens. Wahlroos, who had earlier been commiserating with Rob Hollink about bubbling in tournaments, has a new story to add to his collection.
Musical Chairs
Another significant result of having a table break was that Brock Parker took a seat to J.C. Tran’s left. The duo have 500,000 chips between them, with Tran holding a 270k to 230k advantage over Parker. Despite having Parker outchipped, Tran can not be happy with this recent turn of events.
Muy Bueno
Patrick Bueno, chip leader at the start of the day, had seen his stack dwindle to a measly 20,000 before he found himself all-in on the A 7 7 flop. Both he and his opponent had an ace, but Bueno’s queen kicker nipped his opponent’s ten. The turn and river blanked and Bueno found himself smiling again, brandishing a stack of 50,000.

Dinner Break
Jul 08, '07
The remaining players have just gone on dinner break and will return at 8:30 to Level 4 and a blind in crease to $200-$400 with a $50 ante.
Level 3 Eliminations
Andy Bloch
Andy Bloch made a pre-flop raise of $2,800 and the player in seat no. 7 made the call. The flop came K 9 3 , and both players checked around. The turn brought the Jd and Bloch bet out $5,000. Seat no. 7 re-raised and moved all-in, Bloch called (Seat no. 7 had Bloch covered). Seat no. 7 turns over A 10 for the ace-high flush and Bloch showed K K for top set. The river brought the 4 and Andy Bloch was eliminated halfway through Level 3.
Jennifer Tilly
Jennifer Tilly was also eliminated in level 3 when she moved all-in on the flop with Q-J for an open-ended straight draw and her opponent called her down with pocket aces. Tilly did not improve on the board and that was the end of her run at this year’s main Event.
John “Tex” Barch
In a three—handed pot and on a flop of A 8 8 , all players checked around to the turn. The turn brought the 2 and Tex Barch moved all-in for $5,500. One player dropped out while seat no. 8 called instantly. Barch turned over A J for aces-up while seat no. 8 showed 9 8 for trips. The river brought the 8 and seat no. 8 catches the case eight to make quads and send Barch to the rail.
No Soup for Phil!
www.PokerStars.com team member, Jason Alexander limped into a pot and Phil Gordon checked his option in the big blind. The flop came 10-3-2, and Gordon bet out. Alexander raised and Gordon called. The turn brought another 10 and this time Phil bet out and Alexander just called. The river brought a 5 and Alexander gets the rest of his money in the pot. Gordon pays him off with trip tens, but it wouldn’t come without a little trash talk from the pro when he saw Alexander turn over pocket fives for a full house in the river. Needless to say, Gordon was pissed and Alexander was delighted, but everyone was laughing again soon enough.
Dicken Gets Rivered
Darrell Dicken was the next pro to catch a horrible beat on the river. On a flop of Q 10 8 , Dicken led out with $1,700 and te player in seat no. 9 moves all-in for $16,300 more. Dicken made the call and turned over Q 10 while his opponent showed Q 9 . The turn brought the 6 giving seat no. 9 a flush draw along with the gutshot straight draw to the river. The river brought the J , giving seat no. 9 his straight and allowing him to double through Dicken. Dicken wasn’t too happy after this hand either, but he just shook it off and got right back to business.
J.C. Tran Doubles Up
J.C. Tran was finding a little more luck in the deck and doubled up from the short-stack during Level 3. Tran got it all in pre-flop with A-Q against an opponent’s pair of sixes. Tran hit an ace on the turn and managed to double the size of his stack heading into dinner.
Chris Ferguson Knocks One Out
On a flop of A 10 4 , Chris Ferguson bet out $3,000 and the player in seat no. 6 moves all-in for $1,750 more. Ferguson calls with A Q while his opponent shoed A J . The turn and river brought the 5 and the 7 , no help to his opponent as Ferguson gets another confirmed kill under his belt and cushions his stack before dinner.
Players will return from dinner at 8:30 p.m., so be sure to check back with CardPlayer.com for more updates and your favorite Pro Blogs.
