The turn was the J and both players checked. The river was the 9 and Khan bet 6,000. His opponent called and Khan turned over J 10 for a rivered straight. He was up to 41,000, but the rocky waters of poker would catch up with when his A-K was cracked by his opponent's A-9 on a flop that produced an ace and a 9 . Khan doubled up his opponent and his stack was down to 24,000.

Super Dario Runs Into a Devil Fish
Before the flop, the player in seat 2 raised to 900. Dario Minieri repopped it to 3,000 total and the action was on Dave "Devil Fish" Ulliott. He thought for a while and decided to call. The player in seat 2 thought better of tangling with these two Europeans and mucked. The flop came down 7 2 4 . Minieri led out with 4,000 and Ulliott pounced, going all in. Minieri folded and Ulliott turned over 10 10 and raked in the pot. He was at 29,000 at that point while Minieri was at 22,000.
Johnston vs. Morgan
On a board of 9 5 5 , Jordan Morgan bet 500 and Berry Johnston min-raised to 1,000. Morgan made the call and the turn was the 9 , putting two pair on the board. Morgan and Johnston checked and the river was the 6 . Morgan checked and Johnston bet 1,000. Morgan threw his cards into the muck and Johnston took the pot, putting his stack around 18,000. Later, the two would tangle again.
In a three-way pot and with a board reading K Q A 9 4 action was checked to Morgan who bet 2,500. The player in seat 6 folded and the action was on Johnston. He thought for a bit and then mucked his hand, giving Morgan the pot and improving his stack to around 30,000.
John Murphy Gone
On a board showing 8 7 6 , seat 1 bet and Murphy raised all in. Seat 1 made the call after a couple of minutes in the tank and turned over 9 6 for bottom pair and an open ended straight draw along with a backdoor flush draw. Murphy had a similar hand. He flipped over 6 5 for bottom pair and an open ended straight draw, but his opponent had one of his outs. The turn was the Q and the river brought another red lady with the Q and Murphy was eliminated.

Pescatori Doubles Up
On a board showing 7 Q K 2 , Max Pescarori fired 1,500 into the pot. His opponent in seat 1 made the call. The river was the J and Pescatori moved all in for 9,425. His opponent went into the tank, contemplating whether to jump in the waters with the "Italian Pirate." He decided he would, making the call. Pescatori then walked his opponent off the plank as he turned over K Q for top two pair on the flop. Seat 1 mucked and Pescatori doubled up to around 32,000 after the hand.
The Fall of Freddy Deeb
Freedy Deeb and Max Pescatori saw a flop of 5 4 2 . Both players checked and the 9 appeared to be an uneventful card. But Pescatori took out his betting rifle and fired 800 into the pot. Deeb was not convinced and decided to raise to 3,500. Pescatori then took out his cannon, blasting a tall stack of mostly yellow "1,000" chips with a few blue "500" on top. Street value was estimated to be around 20,000. Deeb mucked Q 7 face up and Pescatori took the pot improving to around 35,000 while Deeb was down to 12,000.
A few hands later, the flop was 10 5 2 , the player in seat 6 bet 800 and Deeb called. The turn was the J and seat 6 bet 2,200. Deeb moved all in and his opponent called. Seat 6 turned over 2 2 for a set of ducks on the flop, much to the delight of Paul Magriel in seat 3. Deeb turned over his 4 3 for an open ended straight draw. The river was the 9 though, and Deeb was crippled, left with just around 1,400 in chips. He was gone moments later.
You Get What You Pay For
On a board of 7 3 4 Q , Shannon Shorr called a bet of 325 by his opponent in seat 1. The river was the J and seat 1 checked. Shorr thought for a bit before he decided to check. Seat 1 mucked his hand, surrendering the pot to Shorr. Since he didn't have to show after that, Shorr simply inserted his winning hand face down into the muck and raked the pot. He was at around 10,000 in chips.
Morgan Gets More Chips
On a board of K 9 4 7 , Jordan Morgan bet 700 and his opponent mucked. With the pot, Morgan was at 33,000 and was in second chip position for the tournament.

Big Hands and Storylines:
Hold'em
Morgan dominated and out
Jordan Morgan, short-stacked, moved all in with Q-T and was called by two players with A-Q. The board didn't help Morgan and he was out. Earlier in the level he had run into aces to lose most of his chips.
Cunningham pays off bet on river
With the board T 8 4 8 K , an early position player bet 6,500 into Allen Cunningham. Cunningham took some time to think it over and made the call. His opopnent told him pocket jacks and as he flipped them over Cunningham seemed shocked. After the hand both players had roughly 40,000 chips.
Omaha
Hyman takes big pot on flop
John-Paul Kelly made a pot-sized raise to 3,500 from late position, and then Zach Hyman made a pot-sized reraise to 11,000 from the big blind. Kelly thought for two minutes before making the call. The flop came K Q 3 and Hyman took his time and counted out his chips before betting pot. Kelly again took a few minutes to make his decision. Hyman had roughly 16,000 chips left, so he most likely committed to the hand. Finally Hyman stood up and told Kelly good luck, and just seconds later Kelly folded.

The Field Gets Smaller - Courtesy of Selbst
After a flop of 9 6 2 , the player in seat 5 pushed his remaining 25,000 into the pot and was called by Vanessa Selbst. Seat 5 showed J J K 10 for a pair of jacks and a club flush draw. Selbst showed A A 10 7 for a pair of aces. The turn was the 8 , giving Selbst the straight, and the river was the J . Selbst was pleasantly surprised to take the pot, because she said she didn't even see the straight out there and only saw the rivered set of jacks for the player in seat 5. Selbst ended the level with in chips.
Just before the end of the level, Selbst was heads up with the player in seat 8 when she bet 19,000 on a flop of 10 9 3 . Seat 9 called and turn brought the J . Seat 9 pushed his remaining stack all in and Selbest instantly called showing K K Q 7 for the nut straight. The river bricked and Selbst sent another one packing.
Natte Knocks off a Pair
Craig Natte had a pair of all-in short-stacks covered preflop and saw the board come out K Q 9 7 5 . The 7 was the river card and gave Natte, who held the A 10 9 5 , the nut flush. He eliminated both Jordan Morgan and Colin York on the hand.
Morgan Crippled With Kings
Colin York raised to 19,000 preflop, Jordan Morgan reraised to 64,000 from the button, and Eugene Todd took the opportunity to push all-in for 105,000 total. York folded and Morgan called, showing K K 3 3 . Todd showed A A 9 2 . Greg Cox, who was all-in for just 2000 chips, held A Q 9 4 . The flop came J 8 4 , followed by the 2 on the turn and 4 on the river. Todd won the majority of the pot with two pair, aces and fours, while Morgan was crippled down to 14,000 remaining. Cox actually won the main pot with trip fours to stand at 8,000.
Cox then tripled up on the next hand, and doubled up on the next, to remain in play.

Amit Here to Help Liebert, Then Becomes Bubble Boy
Rafi Amit min-raised to 2,000 before the flop. The action folded around to Kathy Liebert in the big blind. She made the call and the two players saw a flop of A 2 3 . Liebert checked and Amit fired another shot of 2,000 into the pot. Liebert looked at her cards, to which Amit joked, "Show me your cards and I'll tell you what you have." Liebert showed two cards to the player on her right. They were the 6 2 . She then showed her other two cards, Q Q , and mucked. Amit was thrilled, but was still only around 10,000 in chips. Those chips would soon be gone.
With the board showing A 8 6 , Amit bet 4,000 and then screamed, "I am the bubble boy!" Eugene Todd was in the hand and as he thought about the call, Amit told the dealer how the hand would play out. He said that Todd would think about his hand for 10 seconds and then call. Amit was half right, Todd thought about it for almost 10 seconds and then raised enough to put Amit all in. Amit called and the hands were the following.
Amit: A 5 7 4
Todd: A 7 9 3
Both players had top pair with an open ended straight draw. The turn was the 3 , adding a flush draw for Todd. The river was the 5 and both players made their straights, but Todd's was bigger as Amit acknowledged and he was out in 73rd place, better known as the bubble boy.
The Queen Of Diamonds
With Selbst in the big blind, four players called 1,000 and the option was to Selbst. She min-raised to 2,000 and everyone jumped into the pool with her. The flop was A Q 9 and Selbst led out with a bet of 8,000. Every player folded quickly and Selbst was nice enough to show her hand to everyone. She had A 10 J K for a flopped straight. "The queen of diamonds," one player referred to Selbst because of all the diamonds she held. She also held the chip lead with 128,000 in chips.
Morgan Rising
On a board showing J 9 2 , Jordan Morgan bet 2,500 and his opponents mucked. After the hand, Morgan was around 55,000 in chips, good enough to be in the top 10 of the leaderboard.

Giang Busts Shulman
Barry Shulman was in the big blind and checked his option after three other players, including Chau Giang, called 800. The flop came 10 9 2 . The player who was in the small blind checked and Shulman bet the pot, which was 3,200 total. The player to his left folded and the action was to Giang. He called and the small blind folded, leaving two players to see the turn. The Q arrived on the turn and Shulman looked at his cards, trying to decipher what he had. He announced "pot" and shoved 9,600 into the middle. Giang raised all in and Shulman made the call and both players showed their hands.
Shulman: J J 8 5
Giang: K K J 5
Shulman made a queen high straight, but it was the sucker's end as Giang turned a king high straight. The river was the K and Shulman was sent to the rail. Giang was around 60,000 in chips and added more later as he busted another opponent at his table.
Morgan Doubles Up, Devil Fish Does Too
Allyn Jaffrey Shulman bet the pot preflop and Jordan Morgan called. The flop was J 9 2 and Shulman bet 7,200. Jordan Morgan moved all in and Shulman asked for a count. It was 17,000 more for her to call and she did. The hands were as follows:
Shulman: A A J 7
Morgan: Q J 9 4
Morgan flopped ahead, hitting top two pair and cracking Shuman's aces early. The turn was the 7 , giving Shulman a lesser two pair and she needed help. The river paired the board when the 9 hit. Unfortunately for Shulman, it filled up Morgan with nines full of jacks and he doubled up to around 50,000.
Dave "Devil Fish" Ulliot moved all in on the river against Chau Giang and was called. He showed 5-6 in his hand, giving him a straight to the eight and earning himself a double up to around 9,000 in chips.
Selbst Bulldozing Everyone
Before the flop, the action folded around to the small blind who completed the bet to 800. Vanessa Selbst was in the big blind and raised to 2,000. The player in the small blind called and the two saw a flop. It came A 7 6 . The small blind checked and Selbst bet 3,000. Her opponent folded and Selbst added to her chip lead. She was at 131,000 in chips.
Nam Le Chops It Up
On a board showing 3 7 A K 6 , Nam Le fired a bet and his opponent in seat 2 moved all in. Le made the call and the players turned up their hands.
Le: A J 5 4
Seat 2: 5 4 3 2
Both players had a straight to the seven and they chopped the pot, leaving Nam Le with around 40,000.
Kathy Liebert Wants Some Action
Liebert was trying to bet Rafi Amit that she would win more money than Amit in the 2008 World Series of Poker. Amit would not take the bet, however, saying that he could not see himself showing up to the casino every morning to play in the series.

Jimmy "gobboboy" Fricke Gets Scooped
The total number of participants in the $2,000 Omaha high-low tournament has reached 551, although registration for this tournament has not yet closed. Nevertheless, last year’s total of 534 players has officially been beaten. It seems that many of the top pros are joining this tournament as soon as they bust out of the $10,000 stud world championship, currently still going on elsewhere in the Amazon Room. This is creating some very stacked late entry tables, one in particular featuring Men the Master, Hoyt Corkins, Greg Raymer, and Jimmy Fricke.
On that table, the player in the cut-off raised pre-flop and Jimmy Fricke called from the button. Both blinds called as well, and the four players saw a flop of K 7 6 . The small blind checked, the big blind bet, and the original raiser folded. Fricke raised from the button, and the small blind called both bets. The big blind raised again, and Fricke and the small blind called. The 5 on the turn brought a check from the small blind, a bet from the big blind, and a call by both players. All checked the 4 on the river, and the small blind turned over T 8 4 2 . When the dealer announced his hand, eight-high straight for high and a live deuce for low, both the big blind and Fricke mucked their cards.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Phil Hellmuth Has Arrived
In his trademark tardy fashion, Phil Hellmuth sauntered into the Amazon Room in the middle of level two and found his seat, dressed in full race car driver apparel. No word on any accidents in the parking lot...
After one player from middle position limped into the pot, Hellmuth and another late position player joined only to have Perry Friedman raise from the button. The small blind and all the limpers called, and the five players saw a flop of T 6 4 . The small blind and the original limper checked to Hellmuth, who commented that he didn’t think checking was the right play for him as he fired a bet into the pot. One of the limpers called, and Friedman raised. The small blind called, Hellmuth called, and another limper called.
On the 5 turn, all checked to Friedman who again bet. All players called, and the 7 brought another round of checks. This time Friedman checked, causing Hellmuth to erupt with a burst of, “God, dang it! I’ve got the nuts.” He turned over his A K 9 4 for the nut flush. Friedman flipped over his A T 6 2 for ace-deuce nut low. “Checking ace-deuce? Really?” Hellmuth wondered as he split the pot with Friedman.
