Chris Moneymaker turned $39 into $2.5 million, the 2003 World Series of Poker championship bracelet, and a permanent spot in poker history. He was born in Nashville, Tennessee, and received a degree in accounting. This was his job of choice prior to beating Sam Farha heads up in the 2003 main event, a victory widely credited for starting the poker boom later that year.
Since then, he has cashed in other big tournaments, including second place in the 2004 Bay 101 Shooting Star tournament. He is a representative for Team PokerStars.
