Big Hands:
Brunson’s Bluff Gets Picked Off
One hand after raising to 2,100 from middle position and taking down the blind, Brunson raised to 2,100 again and this time was called by Jameson Singer in the big blind.
The flop ran 6 4 7 and Singer checked to Doyle, who also checked. The turn was the K and when Singer checked, Brunson fired 4,500. Singer thought for a while and called.
On the K river Singer checked and Brunson bet out 11,000 this time. As the ESPN cameras swarmed, Singer went into the tank for a couple of minutes. “You’re getting your TV time,” said Brunson. Singer smiled and finally made the call, showing 7 5 for top two pair. Brunson mucked his hand and dropped to around 34,000.
Oh Captain! My Captain!
One table down from Brunson, Captain Tom Franklin raised to 2,200 from the button and was called by the player in the big blind.
The flop ran 9 K 5 and the big blind led out for 3,000. Franklin mucked, but still had around 62,000 in chips.
Selbst Doubles Up Opponent
Vanessa Selbst raised to 3,000 and the player in seat 6 raised to 11,300. When action folded back to Selbst she pushed in a stack of 5,000 chips, enough to put seat 6 all in. He tanked for a while, then called. Their hands:
Selbst: J J
Seat 6: A Q
The flop ran 9 9 Q , putting Selbst’s opponent in the lead. The board finished with the 2 and the 10 and Selbst took a hit of 35,000, doubling up her opponent. After the hand she still had around 180,000 in chips.
Buchman Wins Race to Double
Eric Buchman got into a preflop raising war with his opponent that led to him getting all-in.
Buchman held A K and was up against the J J of his opponent. Buchman hit an ace on the turn to win the pot and double up to 125,000
Selbst Gets Aces and Action
Selbst raised to 1,800 from middle position and was three-bet by a player to 7,200. Action got back to Selbst and Selbst made it 20,200. Her opponent moved almost all of his cihps into the middle and Selbst jammed all-in and her opponent made the call.
Selbst shows A A and was up against her opponent’s A K . The flop was K 2 2 and Selbst needed to dodge a king. She was successful in that venture with the 7 on the turn and the Q on the river.
The NAPT Mohegan Sun champion is up to 205,000 in chips with that pot.
Mizrachi Hits His Spades
Michael and Robert advanced to day 3 yesterday and their brother Eric is trying to join them there.
Eric Mizrachi called a raise of 2,200 and check-called a flop of K 4 7 . Both players checked the J turn card and saw the 3 fall on the river.
Mizrachi led out on the river and was called by his opponent. Mizrachi tabled the 8 9 and took the flush. Mizrachi is up to 110,000 with the pot.
Pavilion Room Coverage
David Singer Doubles Up

Layne Flack Short
Layne Flack bet preflop and and was called by a player in the big blind. The flop came A 7 5 and the player in the big blind bet 3,000. Flack called. The turn brought the 10 and action went check-check. The 2 fell on the river an Flack’s opponent bet 5,000. Flack called and was unhappy to see the K J . Flack was down to just 12,000 after the hand.
Chris Ferguson Caught
On a board reading 1072102 Chris Ferguson bet 10,000 and his opponent went into the tank. He eventually made the call and Ferguson tapped the table. His opponent exposed the AK and took the pot. Ferguson was down to 26,000 after the hand.

Serock Out-kicks Flack
Joe Serock already has three deep runs in the 2010 World Series of Poker and he’s hoping for another one. He was recently in a pot with Layne Flack, where on a flop of A 6 3 Serock bet 1,000 and Flack and another player called.
Serock slowed and checked to Flack on the 5 turn and Flack fired 3,200. The other played folded but Serock called. The K hit on the river and both players checked. Their hands:

Level Summary:
The first level of the day saw just over 20 players exit the field as blinds edged up to 300-600 with a 50 ante. Chief among the eliminations was Bellagio Cup V winner Alexandre Gomes, who fell about a half hour into play. Gomes took a huge hit just minutes into the day when Josh Schlein turned a straight to cripple the Brazilian star. There will be no back-to-back WPT winner here at the Bike.
The path of another Team PokerStars Pro was very different during the sixth level of play in the tournament. Daniel Negreanu doubled up not once, but twice during the first level of the day to find his stack grow to 54,000. Negreanu doubled up through Kenna James on the the first pass, and then he employed trip sevens to double up a second time.

Big Hands:
Phil Hellmuth Eliminated
Phil Hellmuth was all in before the draw in a four-way pot, with two of his opponents drawing one card each as Amnon Filippi stood pat.
Dan Harmetz bets after the draw as Filippi calls and the fourth opponent folds. Harmetz turns over a 10-8-7-6-5 low and rakes the pot, eliminating Phil Hellmuth in the process
Bobby Bellande Doesn’t Want to see a Bluff
Freddy Deeb raises to 2,500 from the button, John Juanda reraises to 10,000 from the small blind and Deeb calls.
Both players draw one card each.
First to act, Juanda tanks for several minutes on his own action before betting 65,000 (enough to put Deeb all in). Deeb counts his stack (44,650) and makes the dealer give Juanda back his change. This would be Deeb’s first attempt to try and steal information from his opponent. Deeb would tank for another few minutes, asking Juanda a series of questions as he desperately looks for a sign of weakness. He doesn’t get what he’s looking for and decides to fold.
Juanda re-checks his cards as Deeb tells him to show the bluff. Just as Juanda is about to turn over his cards, Bobby Bellande chimes in and tells him not to. Juanda looks at his friend and leaves the decision up to him. “Do you want me to show or not?” He asks Bellande. Bellande replies with a straight face, “Don’t show your cards, because if it is a bluff I’m gonna want to call you down all night.”
Juanda listens to his friend and opts not to show the hand as the whole table gets a laugh, including Bellande who we’re pretty sure was serious.
Huck Seed Eliminated
It was a three-way all in pot before the draw between Huck Seed (4,000), Bryan Colin (29,000) and Layne Flack (had them both covered).
Seed and Colin both drew one card each as Flack stood pat.
Flack turned over a 9-8-7-4-2 low while Colin drew to an 8-6-4-3-2 low. Seed thre his cards into the muck as Colin raked the pot, eliminating Huck Seed and chopping Flack’s stack down to 35,000.

Doyle Brunson Rivers Straight Flush, Scoops Small Pot
With the Q J 5 2 Doyle Brunson took down the entire pot as his straight flush won the high and his 5 2 was good enough for the low against an opponent. Brunson is now at 41,000.

Phil Ivey Needles Layne Flack
On a board of 2 A J 5 ^ , Phil Ivey and his opponent were ready to split the pot when Layne Flack (not in the hand) entered into the situation. After the dealer already mixed together the board, Flack sorted them out again to make sure the split was correct. Players at the table reassured Flack that it was a split, when another player laughingly said, “this is a 6-time bracelet winner.” Ivey added immediately, “And one of them was in this event!”
