Shorr Vaults Up the Chip Counts
We missed exactly how it happened, but we saw Shannon Shorr getting a whole bunch of chips in preflop against his opponent. His opponent was all-in and the cards were flipped up. Shorr tabled K K and was up against 8 8 .
The board stayed clean for Shorr as it ran out 9 5 A 10 4 and Shorr is now up to 133,000 and eliminating an opponent.
Sediel Stacks A Player
Erik Seidel and another player at his table got into a preflop war which led to Seidel calling his all-in of 10,000 with A K . The other player tabled the K 9 and Seidel saw the good news.
The board was good for Seidel as it came out 8 7 6 4 A . Seidel eliminated a player and increased his stack to 51,000 in the process.
Nordberg Takes Opponent to Value Town
Peter Feldman bet 4,000 on the turn after the action was checked to him with the board reading K Q 2 Q and was called by his opponent.
The river was the J and it was checked to Feldman again. He bet 10,000 this time and was called. Feldman showed Q 10 and his opponent mucked. Feldman is up to 73,000 with the pot.
The Dragon Doubles Through Jett
Seat 1 raised to 1,500 and David “The Dragon” Pham moved all in for 8,700 total. Acting after Pham, Chip Jett called and seat 1 got out of the way. Their hands:
Pham: Q Q
Jett: A K
The two pros were in a coin flip situation. The flop ran 9 10 3 , keep Phan in the lead. The board finished with the 7 and the J and Phan doubled up to around 21,000 in chips. Jett still had around 57,000 after the loss.
Chan Gets Value From The Nuts
On a board showing 10 K 8 9 A Johnny Chan bet 7,000 into the pot, sending his opponent in seat 1 deep into the tank. After some time, the player called and Chan showed the nuts — Q J for the broadway straight.
His opponent mucked and Chan saw his stack grow to around 140,000.
Don’t Bully Your Seniors
Berry Johnston bet 2,500 on a flop of 2 10 2 , and seat 5 decided it was time to test the former main event winner by raising to 6,600. Johnston thought for a minute, then threw out five 5,000 chips. Seat 5 thought briefly and then mucked his hand.
Johnston had around 55,000 after the hand.
Junglen Drops One
Picking up the action after the turn, the board read K 9 3 5 . Adam Junglen fired 2,100 and the player in seat 4 made the call.
The river was the Q and both players checked. Seat 4 tabled A Q for a pair of queens on the river and Junglen mucked.
Junglen dropped the pot and was at 113,000.
Phillips Gets Pushed Out
Dennis Phillips raised to 3,500 from the button and the player in seat 2 raised to 10,000 from the small blind. Phillips tanked and then called so both players could see a flop of A Q 9 .
The small blind led out for 15,000 and Phillips released his hand rather quickly.
After the hand he was at 40,500.
Hawrilenko Takes It On The Turn
Matt Hawrilenko raised to 1,500 from the button and the player in the big blind made the call. The flop came down Q 4 4 and both players checked.
The turn was the 8 and the big blind checked again. Hawrilenko took a stab with 2,200 and it was enough as the big blind mucked.
Hawrilenko took the pot and he was at 38,000.
Mizrachi’s Ladies Hang On
Picking up the action after the flop had come down Q 9 8 , the action was checked to Michael Mizrachi.
He bet 4,000 and the player in seat 4 called. Seat 7 mucked and the remaining two players saw the 10 fall on the turn.
Both players checked and the river was the 2 . Mizrachi led out with 9,150 and seat 4 mucked his hand as the ESPN cameras swarmed the table.
Mizrachi then gave them something to look at as he flashed Q Q for top set. He took the pot and was up to 55,000.

Buss Rolls Over Opponent
L.A. Lakers owner Jerry Buss checked a flop of 8 7 5 and Tyler Isono bet 600. Buss made the call, and when the A hit on the turn Buss led out for 1,200. Isono made the call and both players checked the Q river. Buss turned over A 6 for a pair of aces and Isono mucked. Buss climbed to around 13,000 with the pot.
Showing Up The Boys
2008 WSOP bracelet winner Svetlana Gromenkova raised preflop and was called by Eric Arreca. The flop came K J 2 and Gromenkova bet 600. Arreca made the call and both players checked the 6 turn. They again checked the 8 on the river and Arreca showed A-10 for an ace-high. Gromenkova looked as if she might be beat, but upon seeing his A-10 she flipped over A-Q. The queen played and Gromenkova scooped the pot with a better ace high.
Omaha 8
From Down Under To The Top
Joe Hachem bet the flop and river on a board of K 10 5 Q J and was called by Keith Sexton. Hachem showed A K 7 2 and Sexton mucked. Hachem has climbed among the chip leaders with 39,000 in chips.

Hellmuth Has Arrived... And He's Already Upset
Phil Hellmuth started the hand off by smiling and asking John Juanda, "You got an 8 in the hole?" Juanda and Michael Baxley joined Hellmuth in the pot. The three players traded off betting, Juanda betting four street, Baxley betting fifth street and Hellmuth betting sixth street. Baxley bet the final card and Hellmuth made the call, but Juanda got out of the way. Their cards:
Hellmuth: 7 9 6 8 (x-x-x)
Baxley: 4 5 2 9 ( 6 A 2 )
Juanda: 6 2 Q 2 - Muck
Hellmuth clinched his fist and mucked, then began to talk about how bad players were in this tournament before telling Baxley in that Hellmuth-like tone, "Nice hit buddy." Even after the hand Hellmuth remained among the chip leaders.
Gromenkova Picks Off Jett
Gromenkova was also active in the razz round, narrowly taking a pot from Chip Jett. Their cards were:
Gromenkova: A-9-10-9 (6-5-2)
Jett: 7-8-9-5 (A-x-x)
Gromenkova showed 9-6-5-2-A for her low, and Jett could only shake his head as he showed 9-8-7-5-A for a worse 9-low.
Cunningham Bets Out Opponent
Allen Cunninghan called his opponent's bet on fourth street, then led out on fifth and again on sixth to make his opponent fold. Their cards were:
Cunningham: 2 3 Q (X-X)
Opponent: 3 6 6 -Muck
Cunningham took the pot and chipped up to around 14,000.

$1,500 Seven Card Stud Hi-Low - Level Nine Recap
Jun 27, '08
Limits: 100 ante, 200 low card, 600-1,200 limits
Players Remaining: 104 of 544
Average Chip Stack: 15,700
Eliminations:
Chip Jett
Al Barbieri
Tony Cousineau
Hands and Storylines:
Jett knocked out boat over boat
Chip Jett, who began the day with just 6,300 chips, wasted little time getting his chips into the pot and looking for a double up. By fourth street Jett was all in with (7-3) 8-7 and found himself up against (A-A) A-T. Jett caught a four and then a seven for a set, and then on seventh street he caught a four for a full house and the lead. His opponent caught a jack and a queen on fifth and sixth street, and needing to fill up to win, turned over a queen for a better full house.
Phan's draws miss
John Phan, who has won two bracelets in this year's series, called a raise on fifth street and then on sixth street. His opponent bet again on seventh street. Phan held (A 2 ) 8 K 5 T (10 ), meaning he missed his flush and low draw, but did pick up a pair of kings. His opponent showed 7 J 10 8 . Finally he called, and his opponent flipped over 7 7 10 for a full house. After the hand Phan was down to about 18,000 chips.
Traniello can't get the fold
Marco Traniello bet on every street, and his opponent seemed to struggle more and more with each subsequent decision. Traniello bet one last time on seventh street and his opponent eventually made the call. Traniello immediately said "you win" and showed (4-K) A-4-2-6 (10). His opponent showed (A-A) K-5-8-2 (7) for a pair of aces and an eight low. After the hand Traniello, who was among the chip leaders at the start of play today, was down to about 24,000 chips.

Big Hands and Storylines:
Sooner Or Later, All Chips Lead To Klaser
Moments after scoring a big pot off of Erik Seidel, Shannon Shorr had the misfortune of tangling with Martin Klaser. Like all other comers today, Shorr did not fare very well. An 80,000 pot was shipped in Klaser’s direction when his A K 8 3 was good for both the high and low on a board of 9 6 2 Q 5 . Klaser is now fully in command of his table, with a staggering 270,000 in chips, while Shorr is left with 60,000.
Dan Adams: Bounty Hunter
While there are no actual bounties in this tournament, Dan “Stainley88” Adams has just succeeded in knocking out two of the more notable players in the field.
First, Chip Jett got his last 11,000 all-in pre-flop with A A K 2 but Adams’ A Q J 4 wound up victorious when the board – 10 8 8 9 3 – made him a straight.
Then Adams continued his predatory ways against Joe Hachem, again getting his opponent all-in pre-flop. This time it was Hachem’s K K 5 4 against Adams’ A 7 4 2 . The flop was a nightmare for Hachem: A 7 4 . Not only did it give Adams 3-pair, but Hachem’s low draw was counterfeited. To add insult to injury, the Q on the turn and 3 on the river gave Adams a runner-runner flush. Hachem’s elimination brought an end to the his first deep run of the World Series.
But Wait, There’s More...
Sandwiched between those two hands, Adams won a 100,000 chip pot when he and his opponent got it all-in on a K 8 3 flop. Adams showed K K 4 2 for top set and the second low draw while his opponent tabled A 8 3 2 for the nut low draw and bottom two-pair. The turn and river were high cards – J and 10 – and Adams’ hand held up. He now has about 125,000.

The clock was stopped as players drew new seating assignments for the final three tables. They will redraw again when 16 players are left for two final tables. Players have now begun their 60-minute dinner break.
Ante: 500
Bring In: 500
Limits: 2000/4000
Players left: 23 of 381.
Average Stack: 49,696
Eliminations: Ed Fernandez, Dan Studer, George Brand, Kim Erfle.
Big Hands:
Jett Shoots Down Another
Chip Jett and Sabyl Landrum were in a battle while Kim Erfle waited in the wings, all-in for his final 1000 in chips. Landrum held the lead through fourth street showing K 4 , before Jett then connected for consecutive aces on fifth and sixth street. He drew a call from Landrum on fifth street, but when her sixth card left her showing K 4 5 2 , she made the fold. Jett, now showing 10 8 A A , showed 10-8 to be his hole cards for three pair. Erfle showed he was dealt A A in the hole, but was unable to catch up.
Rose Cracks Aces
Charlie Townsend and Roy Rose took turns going at it in a heads-up battle. Rose completed the bring-in to 2000 with the Q showing, and was raised to 4000 by Townsend who held the A . Townsend led out on fourth and fifth street, before Rose hitting running sixes for a pair on sixth street and he bet out. Rose was showing Q J 6 6 when he made his 4000 bet on seventh street. Townsend was holding A 10 4 2 when he was facing the call. He eventually elected to lay his hand down, showing the A to be one of his hole cards.
Brown Hits Rough Stretch
Chad Brown got off to a rough start with the new seating arrangements. It began with a battle against Jeff Siegal, who completed with the Q after Brown brought in with the 2 . Siegal added the A on fourth street and bet out 1500, then on fifth street he bet out 3000 with the 4 . Brown, now with 2 K 9 , raised on fifth street to 6000. On sixth street, Siegal added the Q for a pair showing and bet out again. Again Brown raised, having added the 3 . Both players checked seventh street, and Brown showed wired deuces for three-of-a-kind. Siegal held Q-J-4 in the hole and had filled up, queens over fours.
Brown then got caught up on a flush draw that cost him further chips, though he gained those back when he opened with the K and was called by the Q through seventh street, both players having paired one of their hole cars.

Chad Brown: 36,000
Greg Pappas: 36,000
Big Hands:
Jett Flushed
Chip Jett, showing J 6 5 5 , raised the river bet of Stefan Rapp, who had a pair of tens to go along with K Q . Rapp thought for a long time before finally calling the 1,600. "Flush," announced Jett, flipping over K 9 5 . "You raised me with a flush?" fumed Rapp, who turned over the A and Q for queens up with a busted royal flush draw. Jett's up to nearly 50,000.
The Master Takes On The Sugar Bear
Al: 5 6 4 9
Men: 8 J 5 3
After Men Nguyen led out on fifth street and Barbieri called, both players checked it down. "I got a jack with a spade flush draw without looking at the last card," said Men, who turned up...the J to make trip jacks. Barbieri mucked his hand.
The next hand Men raised to 1,600 with the 8 after an early position player completed and Barbieri three-bet to 2,400 with the 6 . The action folded around to Men, who called.
Al: 8 K J 2
Men: 6 J 6 10
Men led out on fourth street and Barbieri called; Barbieri led out on fifth street after he paired his six and Men called; then Men bet again after Barbieri checked to him; and both players checked the end. Barbieri showed the 6 for trip sixes and Men mucked.
After their little dance, Men was at about 18,000, and Barbieri 22,000.
Buss Dunked By Kobie
Jerry Buss was eliminated after he paired his king on sixth street but never improved against Kobie West's wired aces.
"It's ironic, isn't it," mused West after the hand. "Buss knocked out by Kobe."
Filippi In Blind
Amnon Filippi was doing an admirable job of hanging on the entire day, short stacked and clearly card dead, when he finally decided it was time to put his money in. Down to 700 and dealt the bring-in 3 , Filippi decided to move his last chips in blind. He was called by the seat 1 player with the 5 , and Men Nguyen raised to 1,600 with the 6 showing. Seat 1 called, but got out of the way a few streets later.
Filippi: 3 9 10 4
Nguyen: 6 A 9 5
Originally all Men had was a pair of sixes, but he paired his nine on the end to give him nines up. Filippi turned up Q 4 in the hole, giving him a ten or queen out to make him a higher two pair, but the J did not help his cause, and Filippi was eliminated in 59th place.

In a pot involving John Juanda and David Levi, Juanda led out on fourth street showing Q 6 against Levi's Q J . Levi hemmed and hawed before making the call. The turn brough the 9 for Juanda and 10 for Levi. "Straight draw," cracked the dealer. Juanda bet and Levi folded, showing the A 6 in the hole.

Rousso Loses Big, Wins Bigger
Vanessa Rousso got well over half her chips in the pot in this hand:
Rousso: A-9-8-K (6-7-X)
Seat 4: 10-8-J-2 (J-J-X)
Rousso left the table angrily after losing to her opponent's set of jacks, explaining that she had low, straight and flush draws and missed all of her outs.
Still furious after losing a big pot with so many out, Rousso put all but a few thousand of her chips in a 3-way pot the very next hand. The players' cards were:
Rousso: J 9 5 J (6 4 2 )
Seat 4: K-5-4-3 (K-A-5)
Seat 6: 10-Q-A-5 (Q-Q-6)
Rousso's flush beat seat 4's two pair and seat 6's set of queens, and Rousso nearly trippled back up. As she collected her new chips she explained sarcastically that you had to play bad cards to win.
Judah Triples Up
Mel Judah committed all of his chips in a 3-way pot. The player's cards were:
Judah: A-Q-4-3 (A-J-9)
Seat 4: A-Q-Q-9 (5-X-X)
Marcel Luske: 10-3-5-K (X-X-X)
To the surprise of the table, Judah's pair of aces was enough to win the entire pot and triple up.
Dangerous Beauty
Showing Q 2 J 10 , Shannon Elizabeth bet out and got her opponent to fold his hand. She smiled and collected her chips. She ended the level among the chip leaders with around 34,500 in chips.

Hold'em - Kenna James Gets Slowed Played
On a flop of K 4 4 , the small blind checked to Kenna James who bet 75, the small blind called. The turn was the 10 and the small blind checked to James who bet 150. The small blind raised (check-raise) to 300 and James hesitated for a minute before calling. The river was the 6 and the small blind led out for 150. James said, "If you have a 4...punish me." as he made the call. The small blind turned over A A and James mucked his hand.
Omaha 8/b - Jean-Robert Bellande Scoops a Multi-Way Pot
In a six-way limped pot, and on a flop of K Q 10 , the action got checked around to Jean-Robert Bellande who bet 75 from the cutoff. Victor Ramdin called from the button, Mark Gregorich folded from the small blind, the big blind and seat 6 called. The turn was the 3 and Bellande bet 150. Everyone folded except seat 6 who made the call. The river was the 9 and both players checked. "That was a scary river", said Bellande who turned over K K 7 3 for top set. There was no low hand and Bellande scooped the pot.
Razz - Victor Ramdin Loses a Close One
The player in seat 7 brought it in for 25 and Victor Ramdin completed to 75 with the 5 . The player in seat 6 called with the A and seat 7 folded to the raise.
Ramdin: 5 10 8 6 - A 7 6
Seat 6: A 10 2 8 - 9 7 5
Victor Ramdin was the aggressor in this pot, betting every single round including seventh street. Seat 6 called him down the whole way, eventually making th best best hand. Ramdin showed an 8-7-6 low while seat 6 turned over the 8-7-5. Ramdin lost a close one there while seat 6 raked a good pot.

Chip Jett completed the door card to 75 and the player in seat 4 raised to 150, Jett called.
Jett: J Q 5 6 9 - X-X-X
Seat 4: A 6 J 7 - A 7 5

Michael McClain 2004 Main Event 9th place finisher is more widely known for being the player immortalized as the "Agony of Defeat" as his infamous pout was replayed on all telecasts of the 2003 World Series Poker on ESPN. McClain is currently a short stack, and got a reprieve when he was able to sniff out a river bluff by his opponent and double up. With the board reading J 6 2 9 2 , McClain's opponent bet $30,000 which more than covered his remaining chips. McClain announced, "I think your weak here," and made the call. His opponent showed K Q , and McClain showed 9 8 for the win. We won't be seeing McClain's agony face just yet.
I'll See Your 56 And Raise You 25
Table 56 was already impressive, but with the addition of one more notable player, it truly becomes worth mentioning. Two poker's old guard are seated alongside, two of the up-and-coming young internet players. In seat 1 Hans "Tuna" Lund sets up shop, while seated across in seats 4-6 are Thor Hansen, Carl "colson" Olson, and Jon "PearlJammer" Turner. So far no large confrontations have occured, but there's plenty of play left tonight.
This table is nothing compared to Table 25 which features 3 of the players in the top 5 in chips in tournament. The most recent addition to the table is Sorel "ImperIum" Mizzi, who was recently seen struggling to carry 6 full racks over to the stacked table (albeit 3 of these racks are black chips). He greats the Great Dane Gus Hansen in seat 7, and PokerStars Supernova Hevad "RaiNKhaN" Khan, both who are nursing huge chip stacks. Currently two ESPN cameras, about 5 media reporters, and the kitchen sink are camped out around the table waiting for some fireworks.
John Murphy Loses Freeroll
Action is folded around to John Murphy who raises from late position to $6,000. Seat 7 reraises all in for $30,000 from the cutoff. Seat 1 raises to $60,000 from the big blind to isolate, but Murphy then moves all in over the top for about $180,000. Seat 1 folds Q Q face up, and Chip Jett commends him for a good fold, but then Murphy flips up A K , while Seat 7 holds 5 5 . The board runs out 8 6 5 6 3 , and Seat 7 manages to double up, while Murphy ends up almost where he started the hand.
Dario Wins Big
PokerStars wunderkind Dario Minieri collected a huge pot after his pocket Kings were outflopped. Mineri pushed all in over the top of Seat 2's raise on the flop of Q 10 9 with K K , and was called fairly quickly, elicting a frustrated response from Mineri, as he was behind Seat 2's Q 9 . The turn caught Mineri up quick as the J peeled off giving him the straight. The J on the river was not enough to save Seat 2 and he was eliminated sending well over $100,000 to Mineri.

Hour Three Recap
Jul 03, '07
STUD EIGHT-OR-BETTER
This level began at a snail’s pace with no hand going past 4th street for the first 15 minutes. Then Adam Geyer took a large pot off of Chip Jett, to get things going. On 5th street with 7 2 2 Jett bet $40,000, Geyer raised to $80,000 with A 10 8 6 showing, and Jett called. Jett received the J on 6th street, Geyer caught the 6 , Geyer bet and was called. Geyer bet on the river, but Jett ultimately mucked his hand.
A few hands later Geyer shipped a large amount of those chips to Dao Bac. Geyer had 4 5 4 10 showing, while Bac held 8 4 2 A . Geyer called his river bet, and Bac showed a 8-6 for a pair of eights and a low, which was good enough to scoop the pot.
After losing one more hand, Jett was forced to commit all of his chips to a pair of Queens. Geyer caught up and busted Jett with Aces up.
Bac and Geyer then took a 15 minute break, that ran long while they discussed a chop. Not being able to reach an agreement, they sat back down with Bac enjoying a slight chip lead.

Two hands later Raymond Davis made his final stand with A-K, but Dao Bac rivered a straight with a 9s 5s, and Davis bowed out in 4th place.
Jett then continued his dominance, taking a nice pot off of Bac with K J , paired up with the K 7 5 6 10 board. Jett also got action from Bac when he flopped trip Aces later in the round.

Hour 2 Recap

Players are just now returning from a 15 minute break that followed the conclusion of the Stud round.
STUD EIGHT-OR-BETTER
Vladimir Shchemelev might have wanted to sit this round out. After being scooped in the previous hour by Adam Geyer, Shchemelev was eliminated when he got all of his chips in with Queens and eights with both Chip Jett and Dao Bac calling. However, Jett turned up three sevens and that spelled disaster (and elimination) for Shchemelev.
STUD
Raymond Davis took a sizable pot off of Imre Leibold raising him off the hand on 6th street and showing his pocket sixes to match the one in his board once he folded. Davis has been the life of the table so far. He has been very talkative the whole way through, particularly discussing where he’s going to enjoy his winnings tonight.
Adam Geyer has pulled himself into the chip lead do in large part to his elimination of Irme Leibold. Geyer had Leibold up against it with a made straight to Leibold’s trip Queens, and dodged Leibold’s nine outs on the river to eliminate him. Hold'em Brings the Action
The seven card stud level was relatively slow, with chips mostly being passed from one player to another around the table. The hold'em level changed all that. Within minutes the 11th place finisher was eliminated. David Duran raised the blinds with K Q , Michael Craig reraised and Duran called all-in. Craig revealed the 9 9 and after the board came down 7 4 2 4 5 Duran was sent to the rail in 11th ($7,507). The remaining ten players were playing five handed at two tables.
Cool YourJett-s
Chip Jett three bet it preflop and the player in the small blind called. The flop brought the Q 10 6 and Jett bet. After his opponent called the turn brought the 2 . Jett then checked, his opponent bet, and Jett raised. His opponent reraised and Jett called. The river brought the 3 and Jett check-called, only to see his opponent reveal the A A . Jett flipped up his A Q with the frustration and his opponent raked the massive pot.
Juliano Maesano Takes 10th ($8,171)
All-in preflop with A J against K K , Maesano failed to improve and was eliminated in 10th.
Final Hand

Omaha/Stud Update
Jul 02, '07
Levels 27 and 28 have come and gone and the remaining 23 players have just entered Level 29; Stud Hi.
During the most recent Omaha portion of the S.H.O.E. event, Raymond Davis got involved in a big pot with Susie Genard who ended up catching the wheel on the river and scooping the pot. Everyone folds to Raymond Davis who raises on the button and Susie Genard makes the call out of the small blind, followed by a call from the player in the big blind. The flop comes A K 9 and everyone checks to Davis who bets. Gerard calls and the big blind folds. The turn brings the 5 and both players check around. The river brings the 2 and Genard bets out, getting a call from Davis. Genard turns over 4 3 Q Q for the wheel; she scoops the pot.
Surprisingly enough, it was the most recent Stud Hi/Lo portion of the event that was responsible for most of the eliminations during the last hour. Hooman Nikzad was eliminated in 26th place ($4,849) when his pair of fours failed to improve against his opponent’s pair fives after being forced all-in from the big blind. David Allison would be eliminated in 25th place ($4,849), followed by CardPlayer’s own Diego Cordovez in 24th place ($4,849). Cordovez was eliminated by Raymond Davis when his two pair ran into Davis’ trip fives, failing to improve on the river.
Chip Jett was having a tough time raking a full pot in the Omaha eight-or-better round this past hour, having to settle with a small profit from a few split pots. One of those pots, Jett called a raise from the small blind and saw a flop of 10 8 5 . Jett checked to seat no. 4 who bet out, Jett calls. The turn brings the Q and once again, Jett checks to seat no. 4 who bets out. This time Jett raises and seat no. 4 makes the call. It wasn’t enough to get him off of the hand but it did slow him down quite a bit. The river brings the 6 and Jett bets out, getting a call from his opponent. Jett shows A J 10 9 for the nut straight while seat no. 4 turns over A Q 7 3 for the A-7 low. Jett has to settle for another split pot, but even a nominal profit is better than any loss.

Dinner Break
Jul 02, '07
The remaining 32 players in the S.H.O.E. event have just gone on dinner break and will return at 10:30 p.m. to Level 27; Omaha with $1,500-$3,000 blinds and betting limits of $3,000-$6,000.
We lost quite a few players over the last few levels, and some of the most recent include Alexander Kravchenko in 43rd place ($3,521), Brandon Leeds in 35th place ($4,185), and Ali Eslami 34th ($4,185).
Brandon Leeds was eliminated when his A J ran into an opponent’s 5 4 on a board of 10 9 4 9 6 . Leeds got it all-in pre-flop with the best hand but couldn’t improve against his opponent’s pair on the flop.
Ali Eslami was eliminated when he was forced all-in from the small blind with 10 8 against Petros Theocharides and his Q 4 . The board came A Q 10 2 5 , not enough help for Eslami who hit the rail in 34th place, right before the dinner break.
Raymond Davis had been battling from the average stack over the last hour and managed to snap off a nice pot right before dinner. The player in seat no. 3 comes in for a raise and Raymond Davis re-raises him. Seat no. 3 makes it three bets to go and Davis makes the call. The flop comes 3 3 5 , and seat no. 3 bets out and Davis calls. The turn brings the 8 , and once again seat no. 3 bets and Davis calls. The river brings the A and an almost-all in Raymond Davis bets out and seat no. 3 makes a reluctant call. Davis turns over A Q and seat no. 3 mucks his hand. Davis catches the ace on the river to trump what he suspected was a pair of kings or queens in his opponent’s hand. Everyone at the table starts talking about how sick of the beat that was and Davis replies, “Call $4,000 to win $80,000, I make that call every time.”
Chip Jett was also catching some cards and stacking chips this level, finishing off the Stud round in high fashion. Jett completes the bet with the A and Petros Theocharides comes in for a raise with the A . Theocharides continues to take the betting lead down to fifth street with a board of A 3 10 , while Jett continues to call with a board of A 6 J . Jett check-raises Theocharides on fifth street and peels off the 6 on sixth street. Jett continues to bet right down to the river with a board of A 6 J 6 while Theocharides calls him down with A 3 10 4 . Jett shows A 6 10 , and takes down the pot with aces up.
Players will return from dinner at 10:30 p.m., so be sure to check back with CardPlayer.com for more updates.
