Partouche Poker Tour Main Event Post Day 2: Gus Hansen 4th Place, 583.800
What a day. This is going to be a brief update as I need to relax and sit quietly in-front of the 2k/4k Full Tilt table as preparation for day 3!
I started out thunder and lightning. My 75k was increasing steadily and I felt ready to work my stack should the right occasion arise. Little did I know how quickly that was going to happen. During the very first level of day 2, I pushed in all of my chips against fellow Dane Casper Hansen, chip leader at the time. Here is a recap:
We are playing 400/800/100 and Casper opens for 2100 in first position. I decide to call his raise one off the button with Ac 4c. A little loose maybe but I did have position on him, and you must know that when you open for less than 3 BB you are bound to get followers. Both blinds fold
The flop comes

A fantasy flop! Casper bets 3000 and I guess I have to take him seriously now. A low first position raise followed by a c-bet on a raggedy flop smells like a big pair, probably queens or kings, which my hand plays excellently against. I bump up the stakes to 12.200 and Casper re-raises to 29.000 - all according to plan. Without hesitation I shove all my chips in the middle - just about 82k in total. Then I just fix my eyes on the pile of chips in the middle and wait.
For those of you who are struggling with winning chance and pot odds calculations, let me tell you that I am a 60%-40% favorite against Kings or Queens and on the spot I was actually hoping to get all the money in the middle. Either I can go home to Monaco or I will double up at a strategically very important time in the tournament. Instead Casper folds after a loooooong deliberation, and suddenly I am the table chip leader.

Long story short - my chip stack kept increasing and after I was fortunate enough to hit a nice little Jack on the turn to eliminate one of the French players I end the day with 583.800 in chips, placing in fourth on the leaderboard. Only 48 players remain so I am very excited about the prospects of this tournament.
Obviously I am very pleased with my performance. It seems that I am able to keep up my level of play from this year's WSOP Main Event and the WPT Final.
