Top 80% of the Field - Q&A with Jonathan Little
Coming off an extremely successful 2007, Jonathan Little is finally making some headway in a World Series of Poker main event. Little already has a World Poker Tour title and two other televised final table finishes on his record, but the WSOP bracelet has always eluded him.
Card Player caught up with Little during the last break of day 1A during the main event.
Alex Porter: What's your chip stack looking like going into this break?
Jonathan Little: 46,000.
AP: Where there any key hands that brought you to this point?
JL: There was one big hand I played after losing the hand before with three-of-a-kind, so I must have looked pissed off. A guy raised and got two callers, and I had aces and reraised. The original raiser pushed, which was probably because I looked like I was tilting. He had king-queen, and I ended up stacking him to double up.
AP: Your opponent during that hand was Mike Sowers, wasn't it? I believe that was the hand that crippled him, and he was eliminated on the next hand.
JL: That's right. That was him.
AP: Assuming your table doesn't break immediately upon your return, what's going to be your strategy for the players you currently face?
JL: Just pretty much play good cards and be aggressive against the tighter players.
AP: Has your table mostly been playing fairly tight?
JL: Some players are super passive, some are super aggressive. You just have to play the right way against each of them.
AP: How many main events have you played so far in your career?
JL: This is my third main event, and I've never made it past the dinner break.
AP: So no matter how you finish, this year will be your career best?
JL: This is! Top 80% of the field!
AP: How many events did you play this year?
JL: Too many to remember. Probably like, 28 or something.
AP: As far as cashes go, what's the number to beat for next year?
JL: If I make one cash next year, I'll beat the record for this year.
