G-I-A-N-T-S
Sunday was one of the best days of my life. No I did not play a single hand of poker. Yes, the Giants are the Superbowl champs. I have been a lifelong Giant fan and when Brady's failed hail mary dropped with 1 second left in the 4th quarter, I absolutely lost it. I have seen the Yankees win the World Series, but I have never seen my home town team win a superbowl, it was an amazing feeling. The Giants had been so disappointing the last few years, and then all of a sudden ever since the end of the season this year they have looked as good as I have ever seen them. Eli Manning is looking more like Peyton than Peyton is.
As for poker this month, it's starting off pretty good again, I'm up a few buy ins at 25/50 over about 4k hands played. I played a long HU session today against a very crazy european player named 'Dracospinner.' He has a style that is insanely hard to play against if you aren't prepared for huge swings. He follows through on bluffs more so than just about any player I have played. We played 3 25/50 tables, and when he quit we both had over 45k each on separate tables, and had played tons of huge pots. Despite being down as much as 25k iirc, I finished the session up 9k or so. I am really looking forward to LAPC in a few weeks, as I have to get unstuck for the year at live cash games
.
I lost about 20k playing 50-100 at PCA and am really itching to get in some good live grinding sessions when in LA. As far as non poker agenda, I have a few things planned out:
1) See the Pacific, never seen it before.
2) Be a tourist, much like the tourists I hate who visit New York.
3) Go to at least some of the spots mentioned on Entourage. Entourage is a show on HBO for those who are unaware, about an up and coming Hollywood star who spends his days with his three friends in and around Los Angeles. It's a pretty funny show, and even funnier if you can not take it too seriously (it's only flaw may be a bit too much emphasis on superficiality and greed, but it's what makes it hilarious). There are a number of recurring restaurants and bars on the show, so it would be cool to check some of them out.
4) Party- I hear L.A. is fun.
5) Eat like a King.
