FossilMan Defeats 771 Opponents to Win Huge at His Home Site

Greg 'FossilMan' RaymerGreg "FossilMan" Raymer made his first Online Player of the Year-qualified finish last night, and he made it in a big way. Raymer took down event No. 6 of the PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP), a $300 buy-in (with $20 entry fee) pot-limit Omaha rebuy tournament, to earn yet another golden bracelet to go along with his 2004 World Series of Poker main-event bracelet.

The $400,000-guaranteed tournament had 772 entrants who rebought 1,062 times and added on 544 times, creating a total prize pool of $713,400. Randal "RandALLin" Flowers, a prominent Internet player, made it deep in the event before eventually busting out in 15th place, earning $4,637. Another notable player, wwwBTHEREcom, who finished third in the Sunday Million in August, also went far in this event. He was eventually eliminated in 11th place, for $4,637. Of the final-table participants, FossilMan was easily the most recognizable, and he went on to take the last heads-up pot away from O.Mustang to secure the $168,000 first-place prize and the gold WCOOP bracelet.

The final results were:

Greg "FossilMan" Raymer - $168,362
O.Mustang - $97,022
MrSmits - $64,919
rutasasha - $49,938
-db- - $40,664
PlayaAAK8 - $32,103
Rsa87 - $23,542
Rage Of Fury - $15,695
Oswaldo - $9,274

Today's event is a $100,000-guaranteed limit hold'em tournament with a $200 buy-in (with $15 entry fee). That tournament starts at 3 p.m. ET. For the complete 2007 WCOOP schedule, please click here. Those interested in participating in today's event, or any of the other 16 events remaining in the WCOOP, can click here to sign up for PokerStars and receive an exclusive deposit bonus through CardPlayer.
