syzygy-1-1-1-1 Takes Down Full Tilt Sunday Major

PokerStars Sunday Million

Attendance at last night's PokerStars Sunday Million was down from last week when 8,370 entrants bought in. The numbers may have been lower, but the attendance and prize pool were still significantly higher than they were averaging before the hugely popular $2 million-guaranteed Sunday Million that took place two weeks ago as part of PokerStars' 2X promotion.

The prize pool last night was $1,674,000, which left more than $200,000 for the eventual winner, barring a final-table deal. The final four players in the tournament decided that the $127,000 difference in first- and fourth-place paydays was too much, and they decided to do a by-the-chips chop, leaving all four players with guaranteed six-figure payouts. Per the PokerStars chopping rules, $30,000 was left on the line for the eventual winner. Pokerbrat13 secured himself the lion's share as the chip leader leading into the deal. He was guaranteed $138,078, but any of the other three players could surpass him as the leading money winner in the tournament if they took first.

And someone else was guaranteed to be the leading money winner in the event when pokerbrat13 was eliminated in third place following Gambooooool's fourth-place elimination. Avkid86 was the short stack when the deal was struck, but he came out on top against strahhh25 in the heads-up match to land the extra $30,000, putting his total winnings at $138,101 (which barely edged him ahead of pokerbrat13).

The final results were:

  1. avkid86 — $138,101*
  2. strahhh25 — $118,193*
  3. pokerbrat13 — $138,078*
  4. Gambooooool — $113,017*
  5. tonijeromi — $58,590
  6. dapoopta — $41,850
  7. Jimboski30 — $29,295
  8. gio_piso — $19,251
  9. DonC33 — $11,718

* Payout reflect a four-way deal made at the final table with $30,000 left for the first-place finisher, per the PokerStars chopping rules.

Full Tilt $750,000 Guarantee

Erica Schoenberg made the final table of the Full Tilt $750,000 guarantee Like the PokerStars Sunday Million, the Full Tilt $750,000-guaranteed event had lower attendance than last week, but its numbers were still up a good amount higher than it had been recently averaging. The event had 4,057 entrants last night, when put $811,400 up for grabs in the prize pool. The winner of the tournament would leave the table with $143,285, which meant that that player would be the biggest winner of the night, considering the chop at the Sunday Million.

And going for that huge payday was a final table full of experienced players (see the final results below). In the end, it was govshark2 versus syzygy-1-1-1-1 for the biggest prize and the only six-figure prize of the tournament. Syzygy-1-1-1-1 outlasted his final foe to pick up the $143,000 top prize.

The final results were:

  1. syzygy-1-1-1-1 — $143,285
  2. govshark2 — $86,739
  3. Babooyah — $56,798
  4. blizair — $44,627
  5. thekellster89 — $33,511
  6. Brundaddy — $24,829
  7. IndianRope — $18,662
  8. Capax Infiniti — $14,605
  9. EricaSchoenberg (pictured at right) — $10,873

UltimateBet $200,000 Guarantee

While the UltimateBet $200,000-guaranteed event required an overlay, it had 944 entrants, which was well above average for recent months. UltimateBet plunked down $11,200 as an overlay to cover the guarantee in the event.

The event required an overlay, but that didn't mean that the $45,000 first-place prize was affected. Jacks101 and FlatOutSICK went head to head for that top prize, which equated to an almost $20,000 pay difference. Jacks101 went on to rake in the final pot of the event to snag the first-place prize money in the event.

The final results were:

  1. Jacks101 — $45,000
  2. FlatOutSICK — $26,500
  3. Jay "sjkwins" Koeller (aka NE1_Call) — $18,00
  4. BootnTee — $13,100
  5. plzplzcallme — $10,500
  6. grtwhitehoop — $8,500
  7. packarco — $6,500
  8. dirtycarpet — $4,500
  9. KR567 — $3,400
  10. LeRoy80 — $2,000

Bodog $100,000 Guarantee

The overlay in the Bodog $100,000-guaranteed tournament was still larger than the first-place prize last night when 720 entrants bought in. Bodog beefed up the prize pool with $28,000 to reach the $100,000 guarantee, and the first-place finisher was going to leave the tournament with $23,600. Players in the tournament basically got a $139 buy-in tournament for $100, given the overlay.

When it was down to the final two players, it was two $100K veterans vying for the top prize. Skeptix went up against flitzflitz. Both players had made the final two tables of the event before, but neither had made the final nine, let alone gotten to heads up. Skeptix eventually made a believer out of himself when he became the last man standing to collect the $23,600 prize.

The final results were:

  1. skeptix — $23,600
  2. flitzflitz — $13,600
  3. theman94 — $9,100
  4. No Mans Land — $7,000
  5. swimjack — $5,700
  6. farmslicer7 — $4,500
  7. wybm — $3,300
  8. Rataveli — $2,200
  9. TheHesse — $1,300
