Brian 'SN8WMAN' Hawkins Retakes OPOY Lead, Anthomy 'holdplz' Spinella Takes Down Full Tilt $750K

PokerStars Sunday Million

Cody 'thugmoneymkr' Slaubaugh The Sunday Million over at PokerStars had 7,131 entrants last night, the most the $200 buy-in version of the tournament has had since late April. The number of entries built a prize pool of $1,426,200 and offered a first-place payday of more than $177,000.

The finalists vying for that huge prize were no motley crew of nobodies, either, as numerous well-respected online players made an appearance at the final table. One of those finalists, Cody “thugmoneymkr” Slaubaugh (pictured at left), recently did an interview with Card Player about his success at the World Series of Poker this year.

When it came down to three-handed play, the final three players, BadBeatKid_2, PokerSavage1, and racin77db, decided to do a by-the-chips chop. BadBeatKid_2 had a massive chip lead at that point, and he secured himself $145,000, while the other two players were guaranteed at least $100,000, and $30,000 was left on the line for the eventual winner, per the PokerStars chopping rules. After racin77db went out in third, PokerSavage1, who had worked his way into the chip lead and back into contention during three-handed play, went heads up versus BadBeatKid_2. BadBeatKid_2 eventually closed out the event after a long heads-up match to snag the extra $30K, putting him winnings at $175,000, just barely less than what he would have gotten had he not made a deal.

The final results were:

  1. BadBeatKid_2 — $175,000*
  2. PokerSavage1 — $103,000*
  3. racin77db — $100,370*
  4. dynoalot — $66,318
  5. GravityPilot — $52,056
  6. etushekki — $37,794
  7. MyMaria44 — $25,672
  8. Cody “thugmoneymkr” Slaubaugh — $17,114
  9. Oderec25 — $11,124

* Payout reflects a three-way by-the-chips chop made at the final table with $30,000 going to the first-place finisher, per the PokerStars chopping rules.

Full Tilt $750,000 Guarantee

Full Tilt’s $750,000-guaranteed event had 3,644 entrants, leaving Full Tilt to pick up the $21,200 tab in an event that is increasingly becoming known for having an overlay (this is the 10th week in a row that the tournament has required one).

There’s no chopping at Full Tilt, so the winner was guaranteed a $132,788 payday, while the second-place finisher would take a little over $80,000. That more than $50,000 difference was on the line for the heads-up match between Anthony “holdplz” Spinella and jibossh. Holdplz eventually took down the final pot to land the biggest chunk of change in the event.

Card Player
Online Player of the Year contender Brian “SN8WMAN” Hawkins also made the final table of the tournament. The 400 OPOY points he earned for his sixth place finish there — along with the 180 points he earned for taking seventh in the PokerStars Sunday Second Chance — bumped him back into first place on the OPOY leader board, taking the lead from Halfrek.

The final results were:

  1. Anthony “holdplz” Spinella — $132,788
  2. jibossh — $80,250
  3. Belig — $52,500
  4. fratboy247 — $41,400
  5. kasper74 — $31,050
  6. Brian “SN8WMAN” Hawkins— $23,025
  7. wmmcl — $17,250
  8. jtd24 — $13,500
  9. ohjay310 — $10,050

UltimateBet $200,000 Guarantee

The UltimateBet $200,000-guaranteed tournament had 856 runners last night, meaning that UltimateBet put up $28,800 to match the guarantee for the event. That didn’t change the first-place payday, however, which remained at $45,000.

The two final players looking to clinch that prize were THEFORCE32 and GRIMREAPER88. The ultimate result of the caps-lock-duo duel was THEFORCE32 pushing his final opponent to the rail. GRIMREAPER88 collected $27,000 for second place and THEFORCE32 ended with all of the chips and the lion’s share of the money.

The final results were:

  1. THEFORCE32 — $45,000
  2. GRIMREAPER88 — $27,000
  3. Atanas “naskoxx” Georgiev — $18,500
  4. pokerskibum — $13,000
  5. aabye625 — $11,000
  6. noljking — $9,000
  7. bb77 — $7,000
  8. twenyeyes — $5,000
  9. DrOfDonkology — $3,500
  10. POT_FOR_ME — $2,000

Bodog $100,000 Guarantee

It was another overlay for the Bodog $100,000 guarantee last night when 728 entrants bought in. That attendance was actually better than the event has been having as of late, but the tournament still required a $27,200 overlay, which is a boon for the entrants, who basically got a $137 buy-in for $100.

The ultimate winner of the event was looking to pocket $23,600, and it was two Bodog $100K veterans vying for that top prize in heads-up play. Pkb6786, who had made the final table of this event three times previously, went up against Dartanian, who had made the top 20 in the event twice before. Pkb6786 improved his track record further by eliminating his final opponent to take first place and the top prize.

CardPlayer.com readers should remember to check back on Thursday or Saturday for the password to the Card Player-exclusive Bodog $100K qualifier, a tournament in which Bodog overlays five seats to the event.

The final results were:

  1. pkb6786 — $23,600
  2. Dartanian — $13,600
  3. Zieg30 — $9,100
  4. denlm — $7,000
  5. Whitey03 — $5,700
  6. sanzard — $4,500
  7. ryder_back — $3,300
  8. yuengling — $2,200
  9. dinoucla— $1,300
