PokerStars Sunday Million and Full Tilt $750,000 Guarantee Put On Hold for Huge WSOP Qualifiers

PokerStars and Full Tilt WSOP Main Event Qualifiers

Peter 'Apathy123' Jetten The two biggest weekly online poker tournaments, the Sunday Million at PokerStars and the $750,000 guarantee at Full Tilt, were put on hiatus for one week when the events were replaced by huge World Series of Poker main-event qualifiers on both sites last night.

At PokerStars, a $350 buy-in main-event qualifier guaranteed 200 $12,000 prize packages. The qualifier had 8,076 entrants, which meant 226 players would win a coveted main-event seat and $2,000 for travel and expenses (with the rest of the money going to places 227th-231st). That entry number for the event is astounding considering the qualifier took the place of the normally scheduled Sunday Million, which sports a buy-in of only $200 and usually lures around 7,000 entrants. Some of the big-name players to earn a package in the qualifier inclJames 'jcamby33' Campbelluded Peter “Apathy123” Jetten (pictured above), Jim “jcamby33” Campbell (pictured at right), J.P. “JP 5-time” Kelly, and Sasha “bikocruz” Rosewood.

Full Tilt guaranteed 150 $12,000 prize packages, which meant a $1.8 million prize pool. Unlike the PokerStars event, Full Tilt's qualifier required an overlay when 3,385 entrants bought in at $500 apiece. That attendance left Full Tilt to pick up a $107,500 tab for the event, or about nine of the 150 packages. (3,600 entrants would have been needed to meet the guarantee on buy-ins alone.) Among the notables winning a package in the event were Xuan “x2then” Nguyen and Daniel “voff voff voff” Deveau.

UltimateBet $200K Guarantee

The UltimateBet $200,000-guaranteed tournament lured 824 entrants last night, meaning UltimateBet put up a $35,200 overlay for the event. That number was down from last week's 882 entrants.

Ken 'BKqzbxt' Coppens When it came down to it, it was Ken “BKqzbxt” Coppens versus familyman1962 for the title and the $45,000 first-place prize. Familyman1962 saw the last of his chips going to BKqzbxt in the final hand, and he left the table as runner-up with $27,000 to bring home to his family. BKqzbxt earned $45,000 for outlasting 823 other players in the event.

The final results were:

  1. Ken “BKqzbxt” Coppens — $45,000
  2. familyman1962 — $27,000
  3. rkruok — $18,500
  4. Angelica — $13,000
  5. completedonk — $11,000
  6. BACUS — $9,000
  7. Casey “bigdogpckt5s” Jarzabek — $7,000
  8. kvnok88 — $5,000
  9. odecat — $3,500
  10. Steve “gboro780” Gross — $2,000

Bodog $100,000 Guarantee

The $100,000 guarantee at Bodog had 621 entrants last night, down from last week's 702. Bodog forked over a whopping $37,900 to match the guarantee in the event, more than both the first- and second-place prizes, combined. Players in the event essentially paid $100 for a $161 buy-in event.

The two players vying for the two “courtesy of Bodog” top prizes were Jeff “HB_HITMAN” Anderson and wolf8476. Wolf8576 survived his final opponent to end the night $23,491 richer than he started.

The final results were:

  1. wolf8476 — $23,600
  2. Jeff “HB_HITMAN” Anderson — $13,600
  3. FLA_HAWKEYE — $9,100
  4. pkb6786 — $7,000
  5. ismkjays420 — $5,700
  6. tuzogirl — $4,500
  7. dcm26126 — $3,300
  8. crackin_ty — $2,200
  9. Al “alcarmo” Carmo — $1,300
