WPT: North American Poker Championships Begins

Preview for the WPT Canadian Stop in Niagara Falls

Fallsview Casino ResortDay 1A of the World Poker Tour North American Poker Championship at the Fallsview Casino Resort in Niagara Falls, Ontario, begins tomorrow, Oct. 10, at noon. This $10,000 CDN buy-in no-limit hold’em event will feature three day-one flights to accommodate the maximum amount of players, and the final table will take place on Thursday, Oct. 16. Players will begin with starting stacks of 30,000, and levels will be 90 minutes long with a 15-minute break taking place after each level.

Here is a look at the schedule:

Friday, Oct. 10: Day 1A (all preliminary days will start at noon)
Saturday, Oct. 11: Day 1B
Sunday, Oct. 12: Day 1C
Monday, Oct. 13: Day 2
Tuesday, Oct. 14: Day 3
Wednesday, Oct. 15: Day 4
Thursday, Oct. 16: WPT final table (2 p.m.)

This is the third year that the WPT has gone north to Canada. The first NAPC took place in 2006, and it was won by local player Soren Turkewitsch, who pocketed $1,354,224 by topping a field of 497 players, and a final table that featured Canadian professionals Jason Sagle (second), Jim “KrazyKanuck” Worth (fourth), and Marc Karam (sixth), along with John Juanda (sixth).
